Microfluidics, also referred to as lab-on-a-chip or micrototal analysis systems (μ TAS), has seen great progress in the last decade and offers promising potential in the future. It has been applied in a variety of areas including separation science, chemical synthesis. immunoassays, DNA amplification and sequencing, protein separations, and single-cell analysis. Nanotechnology, which may be used in bimolecular immobilization, signal detection etc, will enhance the flexibility of the design of microfluidics and provide potential application in biology and biomedicine. This report focus on the following parts:1. Theoretical aspects of microfluidics, simulation of micromixer and capillary filling.2. Studying the process of multilayer SU-8 and PDMS microfluidic chip, UV-LIGA.3. Flip chip bonding of PCR chip.4. Some application of nanomagnetic beads in microfluidics: a novel DNA Extraction Chip; a novel electromagnetic microfluidic chip and a novel magnetic filter chip fabricated by nano magnetic photoresist.
