Modulated polarized light has many important applications for optical measurement and information transmission. Optical phase retardation measurement systems can be used both as detectors and generators of phase delays. Azimuth information transmission technology enables instruments that have no mechanical connection to be synchronized by optical methods. This transmission of azimuth information has uses in many fields, such as aviation, space flight, biochemistry, etc. The topic of this thesis resulted from an R&D project of my tutor's company. Based on the theoretical research of modulated polarized light, we designed and deployed two application systems whose capabilities include azimuth information transmission and optical phase retardation measurement respectively.Based on known theory, we conducted further research on modulated polarized light. The topics investigated include: physical foundation of modulation, propagation of light in a medium, choice of polarized light components, choice of modulation methods, etc. We present the physical model and complete design of the two systems referenced above. We also studied how to reduce errors and increase accuracy. We analyzed the effect of azimuth datum plane by slant incident ray and the constitution of azimuth in the receiver and present a method of azimuth emendation using a crystal.We completed many experiments with the systems and continuing to refine the experimental plan by monitoring the measurement stability and...
