The main purpose of this paper is to study three-dimensional radiation treatment,to optimise 3D display,to create a management information system for radiation treatment,and to simulate a virtual machine for designing treatment plans. The study offered radiation treatment software,which can be used to obtain accurate dose distributions and reconstruct Three-dimensional (3-D) images. The main work and conclusions are as follows:1 Database for 3-D treatment systemIn this study a database for 3-D treatment system is built using some new software techniques,such as SQL,database based upon dynamic arrays and ADT,database based upon graphics data. With the aid of these databases,it is easy to obtain data of therapy equipment,patient and dose quickly and precisely.2 Images treatmentAutomatic algorithm of edge detection is proposed. The algorithm includes two arithmetic operators,i.e. Roberts and Laplacian. Points of symbol in images are recognized automatically by using a model of image grey fluctuation.3 Computer software on 3-D reconstruction3D reconstruction of medical images was introduced. There are two methods of 3D images surface reconstruction and texture transparent reconstruction. This software can display 2-D CT images,isocentre(s) position in room's eye view,2-D and 3-D beam's eye view,spatial dose distribution and images of 3-D reconstruction.Visual real-time 3-D graphics of a human body can be displayed on PC by using Open GL. There is a use of the rendering thread,in which technique the operating system switches CPU (general two CPU) time between sub-threads and the main process thread.4 Study on the virtual therapy machineIt is possible to construct any existing therapy with the model of a multi-rigid-machine,being designed as an actual teletherapy machine. With the change of therapy equipment parameters,which can describe the moving of couch,pedestal,gantry and collimator,the motion of the model can be displayed simultaneously.
