"Overview of Wireless LANs,design & simulate the Physical Layer Of IEEE 802.1 Ib and Use SAW Filters in Wireless Communications" thesis begins with a review of Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs),explains the WLAN Protocols for IEEE 802.11/1 Ib,then design and simulate the performance of IEEE 802.lib,which has a CCK modulation technique. Finally,we set some applications for Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) devices in the field of Mobile systems and Wireless Communications. This thesis is divided into six blocks or chapters;each chapter (or block) has its own references. The six chapters has the following explanations:Chapter One is giving an introduction to Wireless LANs,topology, and technology and briefly description to some important standards like IEEE 802.11/1 la/1 Ib and Blutooth. In Chapter Two,we tried to introduce the IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN Standards in a simple way. These protocols are the basis and the key for understanding other protocols of the same group like IEEE 802.1 la and IEEE 802.lib. In this chapter,we began with the MAC-Layer and then briefly explained the three types of IEEE 802.11 Physical (PHY) Layers (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) Physical Layer,Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) Physical Layer and Infrared (or Photonic) Physical Layer).Chapter three is our main block and work,it summarized the High Speed Physical Layer Extension (IEEE 802.lib) Standards, explained in details the Complementary Code Keying (CCK) modulation and demodulation techniques, and then explained and developed the Fast Walsh Transform (FWT) that has been used to increase the data rates of these protocols. In Chapter Four,we tried to simulate the performance of the Complementary Code Keying (CCK) modulation in AWGN and Rayleigh Fading channels and compared the theoretical performance with the simulated one.Chapter Five highlighted on some applications of Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) filters that have been used in Mobile and Wireless Communications,we have explained two applications,Binary Phase-Shift Keying (BPSK),and Differential Phase-Shift Keying (DPSK),we also proposed an application to implement the CCK codewords and the CCK demodulation using SAW matched filter.Chapter Six sets and reports the important results and conclusions of our work.
