The virtUal design method of human-machine interface in mechanical system and the correlativekey techniques are st'Udied in this thesis. The Artificial Intelligence, Objectorientation, Database areinducted into the human-machine interface of a mechanicaI system to improve the level of design.First, the virtual design method of human-machine interface in mechanical system, a new approachfor mechanical system designers to create a computer model of human-machine interface, simuIateand verify it's working conditions as if it was a real human-machine interface, is presented. Thethoughtway of developing the prototype software system of the human-machine interface in mechanicalsystem and some essential techniques are discussed.Second, the characteristic of the human-machine interface design in mechanical system is indicatedby using the object-orientation method. Object-orientation is a new technology based on objects andclasses. Objects provide a canonical focus throughout analysis, design and implementation byemphasizing the state, behavior and interaction of objects in its models, providing the desirable propertyof seamlessness between activities. A class is a generaI term denoting classification, which provides aspecification of structure, behavior, and inheritance for objects. Object-orientation is presently treated asthe best methodoIogical frarnework for software engineering, and is becoming the preferred choice fOrmodern computer programming projects. Object-orientation is put into the area of virtual design ofhuman-machine interthce in mechanical system in this thesis. A set of independent component objectsfOr design are brought fOrward as a result, which established the main frame of the virtual design ofhuman-machine interface in mechanical system software.Third, since the structUre of a general human-machine interface of mechanical system, which isdealt with in the virtual design of human-machine interface in mechanical system software, is verycompIex and flexible. it is a key problem that ho'v to describe a human-machine interface in computer.Data structure is the stUdy of met11ods of representing objects, the design of algorithIns to manipulatethe representations, the proper encapsulation of objects in a reusable form, and the evaluation of the costof the implement. ConsequentIy a set of data structure based on double-ended queue is put fOrward todescribe the manipulate action of operator. Multi-Ievel linked list is selected as the data structure ofhuman-machine interface module and implemented with template classes in Visual C- language tosuccessfully store compIex human-machine interface model in mechanicaI system. The advantages ofthese data structures are as followsfl)increasing the flexibility in the stage of setting up thehuman-machine interface modeI;2)ensuring the simplicity of the design.FoUrth, The constrIJction method of input elements of human-machine interface in mechanicalsystem is stUdied and presented. The tasks to users are inputting the types and dimensions when theydesigning the eIements of the human-machine interface. The intervene problem betWeen the elements issolved.IlFifth, on the basis of scientific research of some former colleagues, the construction method of the 3-dimension ellipsoid human model and the database of Chinese adults' human dimension were introduced in detail. The object-oriented modeling method is applied to construct the human model. It takes the limb as the basic part of body, also as an object. The dimension of human model is referenced from the China National Standard GB10000-88 "Human Dimensions of Chinese Adults".Finally, in order to demonstrate and verify the rationality and feasibility of the results in this thesis, a software system, named Human-Machine Interface Virtual Design (HMVD) , is implemented with Microsoft Visual C++ language and OpenGL on MS-Windows NT.
