Minorities Floating Population In Urban Adaptation

The dissertation is an empirical study about the minority fluid population adapting to the urban life. Since 1980s', especially 1990s' when market economy institution established, rural residents including minorities have poured into urban areas in large number, and more and more fluid population gathered there. Because of the sharp distinction of living condition and culture background, the problem of fluid minorities adapting to metropolis arises and causes a series of realistic problems. But for this important issue, the academy has paid no enough attention.The dissertation is based on Wuhan city, choosing representatives from different industries and minorities, using the relative theories of ethnics and anthropology, exploring the process of minorities adapting to metropolis by the means of In-depth interviewing, participant observation, questionnaire and so on, including the contents of preparing for adapting, strategies, effect and cause, etc, in order to have a complete and profound understanding about the issue of fluid minorities adapting to city life, and to draw the conclusions for the popular and regular problems. As important adapting strategy, relation net is a key of study. The dissertation compares and studies the different minorities' relation net, and concludes the respective features and tests the adaptability of relative theory, concludes the popular factors influencing adapting and summarizes the city adapting mechanics of minority fluid population.With the research of the dissertation, I hope it will expand the field of ethnics and anthropology, and further the understanding of the relative problems. The community of minority is always the study emphasis of our ethnics and anthropology, and the research on scattered minority residence including urban area is relatively weak. Because of the special role of city in the society, strengthen the relative study is necessary. Especially on the background of fast urbanization and sharp rising of the urban minority fluidpopulation, studying the condition of urban fluid minority is of important meaning both in academy and reality. It will help understand the population of minority immigrants, pushing the communication and understanding between city management, original residents and minority immigrants, as well as that of between the minority immigrants, to help the minority immigrants adapt better to city life, promoting the city nationality relation to a more harmonious and united direction.
