The Study On Public Space In Urban Community Construction And Management In China

Community study has been on many worldwide projects and experiments. The city community development which has been widely practiced in China has its own unique social and economical background. Community space not only produces different kinds of demands from every stakeholder, but also undertakes some programs which are not covered by government functions. In modern society, the community has become a constituent zone which is administrated by both the government and the public.By following the theme of the community public space structure and management in urban information process, this paper addresses crucial theoretical and practical topics on what is community public space, how to enhance community public space management, and how to combine the information process with the development of the community public space. This study reflects the social public demands, and follows the modern management mechanism. After the thorough study on the community public space topic, it comes to understand how to more effectively improve the community public space management, and then enhance modern democratization. The paper is divided into nine chapters as follows:Chapter 1 starts with the introduction of Chinese economical reformation, society transition and urban society management change, and then points out the challenges of the society management under such circumstances. It then proposes that the community development is an essential society self-management system. Based on the analysis of the necessity and the significance of the urban community public space management, the author presents the structure of the community public space, the problems needed to be resolved in theoretical structure, and the primary study direction, study structure and innovative points.Chapter 2 thoroughly discusses the topics, such as the community theory, the community management theory, public space study based on citizen society theory, and social study theory and so on. In the meanwhile, the author reviews and evaluates other related studies which have been performed in China, and then points out the drawbacks of those studies. The improvement to those drawbacks is the author's primary research focus.Chapter 3 does the in-depth theory analysis on the definition of the community public space and the development condition. It first analyzes what can be defined as public tangible things within a community space. And then based on the concept of the public zone in the citizen society theory, turn the public zone concept from ideal into practical. It defines the concept of the community public space, and then fulfills it with the functions of residential affairs. This paper thinks that the public space of a community is the public domain type with regional meanings and real social functions. It is such a public domain that is with the survival foundation of the separation of country and society, with the center of self engagement, with the principle of the right balance, with the content of residential affairs, with the means of information and network, and with the normality ofpublic criticism. Then address different social types of the community public space under three different communication means of interpersonal communication, media communication and internet communication. It also discusses the development of community public space structure at information age, and the change of the community public space resulted from the network technology. Further analysis is made on the virtual (network) and physical community public space.Chapter 4 launches the further investigation into the composition of the community public space management in China by using the factor analytical method. Proceed from the experience of realistic community management, form and resolve community public space management step by step, and establish the hierarchical structure like a relation tree.
