The first chapter of the thesis aims to introduce the recent development in instructional technology,instructional design and the psychological research of teaching and learning,with a view to paving the way for further discussions and proposals. This chapter first deals with the different definitions concerning educational technology,instructional technology,instruction design,and instruction development. With learning as a process based on cultural activities,it further forms a review of the development of instruction design and the role that technology plays in promoting educational reform in the 20th century. In this chapter,there is also a thorough analysis on the theories of some important scholars such as Piaget,Vygotsky and Bruner,who have established and developed the psychological foundation for the learning theory.The second chapter begins with the analysis on some international cases about the information technology applied in education and proposes the issue of this thesis - that is - how the learning theory integrated with teaching practice and technology at the beginning of the 20th century. By offering various reasons,the writer proposes the idea of integration under the theory of constructivism. Therefore the focus of the issue becomes "how to complete the integration through the theory of constructivism" .The purpose of Chapter One and Two is to introduce the background and propose the issue;while the next part,Chapter Three and Four,focuses on the theoretical analysis on the issue and forms a value judgment. Chapter Five and Six form the third part and further investigate the reality of theory-technology integration in our country and put forward suggestions for further improvement. On the whole,this thesis is composed of three parts:purpose (Chapter One and Two),theoretical analysis (Chapter Three and Four),practice and current situation (Chapter Five and Six). Inevitably,the detailed reasoning and analysis in every part is closed interwoven with theories and ideas in psychology,pedagogy,philosophy and information technology.From another perspective,each chapter of the thesis develops under two mainstays (instruction and technology),which extends respectively. The former focuses on the field of curriculum theory,instructional design theory,and constructivism;the latter on educational technique,information tools and computer science,etc. Sometimes the two mainstays coincide on the level of philosophy,sociology and psychology metaphysically;sometimes they integrate in individual teaching activities.There are also some notes for your attention:1. Since this thesis covers the latest development of constructivism and information technology,effectiveness becomes the principle for material collecting and analysis. Therefore some classic and traditional theories are briefly dealt with.2. This thesis covers a large variety of opinions and fields of study for the purpose that the integration between technology and teaching/learning can be more widely treated. On the other hand,variety also enhances the difficulty of logical reasoning.For the limitation of time and energy,there are still some fields and opinions such as Cognitive Neurosciences and Educational Economy remained untouched in this thesis.3. This thesis aims to track those first-rate teaching cases in the world of education,which are representative,up to date and relatively successful. In spite of this,there are still some good examples that are not fully introduced in my thesis.4. The home case studies chosen in this thesis are mainly from field-study research with my colleagues. This kind of choice is rather perceptual and enables me to put my theoretical research into practice. But these case studies also have some limitations and disadvantages.This thesis attempts to manifest my understanding of the above issues from the three aspects:background introduction,penetrating analysis and practice in reality.
