| On the close of 1980's, Taiwan began to reform her authoritarian regime and opened the political system to the public. Parties and political powers increased rapidly. The whole process of transition was quite peaceful, however, there are still problems in the transition of democracy. Populism is thought of as the biggest problem. Some politicians want to use the power of people to defeat their political opponents. This paper is supposed to find out the relations between political transition and populism.Chapter 1 is mainly about the reasons of choosing the topic, the two basic concepts: populism and democratic transition.Chapter 2 tries to find out the influence of democratic transition on populism's occurrence. That is to say, what factors in the process of democratic transition make populism possible.Chapter 3 mainly talks about the speciality of populism, thinks the speciality of populism depends on special history and society of a country.Chapter 4 pays attention to what populism looks like in the democratic transition.Chapter 5 is supposed to find out how populism influences the process of democratic transition.At last, conclusions from above are that the transition of democracy has many reasons to cause populism, however , the speciality of populism relies on the special history and society in the country when it begins democratization process. |
