The Evolution Of The Political Party Politics In Taiwan From Authoritarianism To Populism In 1949-2008

Since Kuomintang regime fled into Taiwan in 1949,great changes have taken place in political party politics in Taiwan.From 1949 to 1988,the authoritarian regime has been established and grew up gradually.In the second half of the 20th century,under the influence of the third wave of democratization,a wave of reforms have taken place in Taiwan,Populism began to show on the political arena and became an main force in political party politics in Taiwan.In this article,we try hard to comb the history of the evolution of the political party politics in Taiwan,describe the periods of the evolution of the political party politics in Taiwan,and analyze the influence factors and progress of the rise and fall of Taiwan authoritarianism and the rise of Populism,in order to find out the law of the history of the evolution of the political party politics in Taiwan.By studying political party politics in Taiwan,we attempt to analyze the development of populism in Taiwan and "Taiwan independence" forces,and sharpen our understandings of the society and political ecology of Taiwan,in order to provide references for dealing with the relationship between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits.Generally speaking,this paper includes three parts:The first part is the preface,laying the foundation for the analysis of this article,this part introduces Research purposes and significances,combs literature review and research status of the study of political party politics in Taiwan,and makes classification for the concepts adopted in this paper.And the preface also shows the research methods adopted in this paper.The second part is from the second chapter to the fifth chapter,this part introduces the evolution and influencing factors of political party politics in Taiwan in detail.The second chapter reviews the period of Jiang Jieshi's main government,in this period,Kuomintang regime was faced with "domestic trouble and foreign invasion",established the autocratic authoritarian in order to consolidate its dominant position.The third chapter introduces the period of Jiang Jingkuo 's main government,in this period,the Kuomintang regime of "diplomatic fracture " faced "the crisis of legitimacy",in order to gain the identity of people and "reinvent legitimacy",they have been beginning a series of reforms,which leads to the taking place of political transformation of political parties in Taiwan.The fourth chapter talks about the period of Li Denghui's main government,in this period,for expanding his power,Li Denghui has been supporting the other party forces and the "Taiwan independence" forces,pressed the political enemies within the Kuomintang and promoted a series of "constitutional reform",that results in in this time populist forces grew up rapidly.The fifth chapter describes the period of Chen Shuibian's main government,the populist party became the ruling party,in this period,the Kuomintang became the opposition party and took the way of populist mobilized election,therefore populism has been the main force of Political party politics in Taiwan.The third part is the sixth chapter,this chapter analyzes the reason of the evolution of the political party politics in Taiwan,summarizes the principal stages of the evolution of the political party politics in Taiwan from authoritarianism to populism,divided the evolution of the political party politics in Taiwan into four stages including the traditional authoritarianism,the reforming authoritarianism,the authoritarian populism and the election populism,exploring the internal laws of the evolution of the political party politics in Taiwan.
