Urbanization has become a hot issue among various subjects. However, it is economics that can expound the principles and basic mechanism of urbanization incisively, although other subjects also play important roles in analyzing urbanization phenomenon. The paper gives an analysis of the economic operation aimed for urbanization phenomenon.It remains a new subject in china to analyze urbanization economic operation, which is an inevitable qualitative-change stage in the process of economic development in human society. However, till 1960s, people still failed to get the logic and systematic knowledge of the necessity, economy, society and history of the stage, in spite of the importance of it in guiding a nation's economic development. Since 1960, a great number of works on urban economic have appeared at home and abroad, but it's rare to apply the economic model of equilibrium in the analysis, in addition, at the turn of century, governments of all levels made development strategy aimed at urbanization, with the promotion of productivity force, but there is a weak theoretic base for economic decision-making, including urbanization mechanism, urbanization route and urbanization policy. The paper is aimed to discuss the mechanism of operation and adjustment in the process of urbanization, by establishing equilibrium mode of urbanization, on the basis of the summaries of its occurrence mechanism.The main contents are as follows:In the introduction section, it sets forth the significance, contents and perspectives of the analysis on urbanization economic operation; points out that the analytical methods of equilibrium and disequilibrium are applicable in the issue; states the necessity and importance of studying the equilibrium and adjusting the disequilibrium of economic operation.In the first section, according to economics principles, after analyzing thecontradictive phenomenon in urbanization economic operation which brings profusion of different opinions, reveals and concludes two practical condition of disequilibrium and their representations: firstly, source restriction, as a result of "urban disease" and urban scarcity; secondly, demand restriction, which is reflected by "hollowness", suburbanization and rural economy. It also point out that at the present stage, the disequilibrium in urbanization economic operation in china comes from the supply restriction of the system.In the second section, it concludes that theoretical base of studying urbanization economy operation is its general historical basis and operation mechanism. In this section, applying the method, from abstract to specific and from history to present, it analyzes the operation mechanism of urbanization economy affected by market mechanism; puts forward four theories of urbanization economy from economic perspective, including agriculture surplus and comparison advantage; non-agricultural industry; agglomeration economy and spillover effect, on this basis of the theories, it, on one hand, analyzes two kinds of internal mechanism in the chronologic operation of urbanization economies: increasing mechanism of urbanization economies in urban output industry; and changing mechanism from specialization to integration, which are the representations of the evolution of "mart" development; on the other hand, it analyzes two internal mechanism of dimensional operation of urbanization economy: internal spatial enlargement mechanism of urbanization economies from monocentric city to multi-center city, and external spatial enhancement mechanism which represents city-regionalization and city-chain connection, the later two mechanism represent the evolution of "polis" development.
