Based on previous research and fully using both Tibetan and Chinese historic materials, this thesis does comprehensive and quite deep research on the history of the Tu-bo Dynasty's eastern development and integration and khri gtsug lde brtsan.This thesis is composed of nine chapters, including about 160 000 words.The first chapter is mainly focused on the meaning of this topic, the value and the basic research thinking. The second chapter explains the historic relationship between Tibetan and Chinese from the angle of multidisciplinary and proves the close connections between Chinese Tibet and Chinese Central plains since ancient times. The chapter discusses the reasons of Tu-bo's eastern development and the integration ties in a macro-history way. The author believes that Tu-bo dynasty is an very important period during Tang dynasty in which Chinese nationality formed and developed. It is Tu-bo's eastern development and the integration that exactly embodys Tu-bo being involved in this process, thus enriching the national integration during Sui and Tang dynasty of China, promoting the final formation of Tibet nationality, speeding up the civilization communication and development of Tibet nationality and its involvement into the diversified unity of Chinese nation, even having a deep effect on the nationality distribution of Hexi and Longyou. The third chapter introduces the process of the eastern development of Tu-bo, including the intercrossing relationship between its two means, i.e., war and integration. This chapter also exhibits various means of integration and development between Tang dynasty and Tu-bo during about 200 years. The fourth chapter is focused on the character, the content and the direction of the integration during Tu-bo period,especially on the history that Tu-bo entered into Helong and on the integration situations under Tu-bo's rule. In addition, it also debates the influence of Tang people who surrendered to Tu-bo (such as messengers and captives) and the cultural communication (such as Buddhism communication)Chapters from the fifth to the eighth are based on the background of Tu-bo's eastern development and integration, studying the king khri gtsug lde brtsan and his historical role systemicly and deeply. For example, how the king khri gtsug lde brtsan succeeded to the throne and what measures he took after his taking over and the reasons, process, character and results of the internal reforms are discussed; relationship between the Tu-bo and the Tang Dynasties and the measures that king khri gtsug lde brtsan and dpal chen po took to promote Tang-Tu-bo relationship until Changqing meeting was realized are systemicly analyzed. In addition, the real reason of the coup leading to king khri gtsug lde brtsan's being murdered is studied and historic judgements to him are made. The author also analyzes so-called glang dar ma persecution of Buddhism from a new angle. This thesis makes some new and comprehensive researches to a series of problems on the basis of previous study so to make some progress in this field.
