In Northern Song Dynasty (Earlier Song Dynasty),during Yuan you period, leaded by Su Shi, Mi Fu, Wang Shen, Huang Ting Jian, Li Gong lin and others attracted each others by the similar interest. Therefore they established their own literari circle with a mutual connection and own unique features and focus.During Yuan You period, with a distinctive sense of community and artistic consciousness, the form of " Ya Ji"(literati gathering) and the interplay between the literari circle brought their way of life, art practice, artworks collection, artistic thoughts to the refined, ideal, personalized literari'ideality and still, free as well as natural literati taste. As for the art of painting, a series of claims and thoughts raised by the literari circle during Yuan You also demonstrated a conscious awareness of literati painting.During Yuan you period, the literari circle connected each other closely in art activities, especially in the field of chinese painting. Their promotion and practice established the name of literati painting in the Later Northern Song Dynasty and made further development.Based on mastery and a comprehensive analysis of materials, books and documents, this paper fully explores and absorbs the results of previous related studies. This paper makes a comprehensive research and study on all aspects of the literari circle during Yuan you period (Northern Song Dynasty). It especially focuses on the relationship between the formation and development of literati painting. Also combined with work analysis, the paper is to sum up such relationships and aspects that fit the original findings from the history.
