This paper is based on the study of three special sentence patterns--Ba-sentence, passive sentence and comparative sentence appeared in seven basic Chinese textbooks published in Korea and China. The aim of this paper is to find out the advantages and disadvantages of the two countries' textbooks in terms of defining, arranging, explaining and the design of exercises of the three grammar items. The paper also aims to find out the differences between the compilation principles of these textbooks.For grammar explanation and sample sentences, Korean textbooks mostly begin with the comparison between Korean and Chinese and give much emphasis on the understanding of the meaning of the sentence; Chinese textbooks, take the European and American learners' thinking patterns into consideration and make a lot of comparisons accordingly while emphasizing both the form and the meaning. In respect to the design of grammar exercises, Korean textbooks fail to provide enough exercises and are insufficient in breadth and scope. In respect to mechanical drills, the communicative activities have a larger coverage which put emphasize on both the on the learners expressive abilities and the construction of whole ideas and thoughts. Chinese textbooks on the other hand provide sufficient exercises and with a comparatively larger focus on practice and repetition. In addition, Chinese textbooks provide various types of activities which are very much interrelated.Through the comparison between the different textbooks and the Chinese Level Standards and Graded Grammar Syllabus, the paper addresses the need to improve on grammar definition and arrangement. It also points out the problems which exist in the compilation of grammar.In closing, this paper offers some suggestions in the writing of the textbook used by Korean students. For example, the grammatical explanation should match the typical examples that appear in the textbook; the formulaic grammatical patterns should be provided and incorrect examples should be removed; the explanation should be given in Korean, rather than in both Chinese and Korean; there should be a gradual transition from mechanical activity to automatic activity in exercise design; In addition, some exercises and examples of the Standardized test (HSK) should be provided.
