Korean Nation Straw Cultural Studies

The culture of one nationality is the fruit of labor creation and wisdom by that nationality during a long period, which is not only beneficial to its own development, but also it is the common wealth for the world. The nationality will be prosperous if the culture develops, and vice verse. The traditional culture is the soul of one nationality.The korean nationality also has its own special culture. As one nationality who have has the history of rice cultivation for over 3000 years, the rice culture becomes one of the most special tradtional culture.However, because of the development of the and economy and society ,the planting machinery and folkway, rice faith is being forgotten by us. The rice culture is also facing disappearance at the same time. Some people still plant rice in the countryside, but there is almost nothing we can find aobout rice culture. This typical culture of Korean nationaltiy culture is now disappearing, and the basement of nationality life is now shaking, the national culture is facing the challenge by the age. It has reality and history sense that we begin to record, reorganize, analyze and study the rice culture.There are two methods used in this thesis, which are data analyses and investigation. The author summarizes the relationship between the rice culture and Korean nationality based on the data and analyses done by our ancestor. Then we can find out the aesthetical characteristics due to Korean nationality given by the rice culture. Also ,the author sums up the social function of the rice, and the picture data of the investigation can enrich the contents of this thesis.There are three parts in this thesis which are introduction,text and conclusion.The contents of the introduction part is mainly about the topic significance,analysises trends related in other countries, the main analysis method used in this thesis and the author's understanding of the rice culture.The text part is made up of six chapters.The first chapter tells about the orgination of the rice and the history of the rice planting in Korea peninsula.The second chapter's contents is mainly about introducing and analyzing the relationship between the rice and material culture. For comprehending easier, the author divide the material culture into living tool producing utensil and raising tools, and states the relationship between the rice and those three kinds of culture besides the use and the making method.The third chapter tells about the relationship between the rice and social customs and habits, and the social customs can be devided into the social customs of life and the winter habits.The forth chapter is mainly about the filiation between the rice and folks belief, and the author focuses on the Jinshen belief and home divinity.The fifth chapter is the key part of this thesis, the author focuses on analyzing the deep connotation of the rice culture, namely associates the rice characters with the aesthetics character of Korean nationality, be curve beauty, and the perfect reflection of this character is the rice roof. This character can be also found in every article part in Korean nationality as traditional dance , music and clothes. The biggest features of Korean nationality's traditional dance which is low chest and winding the back is reflecting the aesthetics character of Korean nationality. This curve beauty is also found in basic standing position and dance steps of traditionsl dance. The traditional music also reflects this curve beauty, it's biggest character is the system of three beats. If we line up these three beats, it will become one kind of curve, which reflects namely aesthietics character of Korean nationality. Meantime ,the traditional clothes namely Hanbok is also relfecting this curving character. The sleeve of Hanbok is the most clear, which is narrow in two sides, and wide in the middle, and this becomes the natural curve line. The biggest character of the traditional shoes is that the top of shoes bents up a little, which shows hook-like curve, this kind of show and the hanbok shows us the perfect curve.The sixth chapter is also the key part. In this part, the author tells us the social function of the rice culture based on the investigation. Making rice utensil is the mainly producing activity in free time, which not only can advance and strength the friendship between the peasants, but also can consilidate the identification of the village, advance the association as a kind of medium. Meanwhile, the making technology of the rice can also be handed down year by year. And the circulate use fo the rice utensils also do some contribution to the environmental protection.The creation of this thesis is as following: the first is that clean and classify in detail; the second is that analyze the rice in deep way, dig out the aesthietics character of Korean nationality—curve beauty, and demonstrate it by the aesthietical analysis of the music,dance, clothes and so on. The third id that analyze the social function of the rice culutre. The forth is that show out lots of pictures of the rice utensils, which are the first-hand data, and those pictures are taken in Korean nationality village and rice museum.
