The discourse consists of three chapters. The first chapter clarifies the reasons for the flourish of Shanghai's literature creation of workers during the "seventeen years". The reasons are all-round, so I divide this chapter to five segments. In the first segment, I analyze the concept "worker writer". It's the outcome of that special era, which aimed at showing the power of working class. At the beginning, the concept had a obvious political motive. So people had a extensive understanding to the concept at that time, it included three kinds of writers. But today, if we severely define the concept, we would find that all the culture and education leader of CCP should not be included in the concept except the labours in all walkers of life.In the second segment, I coordinate the request to the authors of "Revolution Literature" and "Proletariat Literature", at the beginning that the Revolution Literature was mentioned. During the period of revolution, CCP depended on the writers and intellectual who took part in the revolution. After the founding of PRC, the party put more hope on the writers whose origin is worker or farmer indeed. The leaders of CCP and the heads of literature had many discussions on the aspect, I concluded some of them.In the third segment, I analyze the economic reason for the flourish of workers' literature creation. The change in city character, the quick development in industry, the working class's hot working competition and the technology reformation, all of these supplied adequate materials for the worker writers. Without them the workers' literature creation of Shanghai couldn't become flourishing. In the fourth segment, I analyze the political reason. I think working class had the historic greatest political station in this period, it turned into the leading class of the society. CCP tried its best to eliminate illiteracy and launch the leisure-time culture education, in order to raise the working class's culture station, and then make the class take on the mission of social reformation. In such circumstance, the strong feeling of standing up and being the master of fate urged the literature fans in working class to take up their pens, which finally formed the mass base of workers' literature creation. On the other hand, because the country leader paid attention to make literature policy to cultivate the literary procession and amateurish writers in working class, the protection mechanism in favor of workers' creation was coming into being gradually. For example, the writers' association and the literature print established the mechanism to culture and tutor the worker writers. The basic party organizations and labour unions established the mechanism to educate and support worker writers. In the fifth segment, I summarized the famous worker writers' personal effort during their growth. In the second chapter, I discuss the characters and specialties of Shanghai's workers' literature creation. From the political point of view, it is the proletarian literature in the period of socialism, which is also called realism of socialism. From the angle of theme, it is not a kind of city literature and it also differs from the intellect's literature on industrial themes. Accurately, it's one kind of working class literature with some city specialties. This kind of literature has two specialties, one is the working class consciousness, and the other is the Shanghai's city character. In the first segment, I analyze the class consciousness that presented in Shanghai's workers' literature creation, which consisted of labor consciousness, collectivism, and the master consciousness led by technique democracy, the technique incline containing technological revolution and reformation and the labor esthetic of working class. In the second segment, I analyze the city depiction in Shanghai's working class literature, including the degree identity of "Shanghai People", the identity of Shanghai's city function, the identity of Shanghai's city circumstance, the limited identity of Shanghai dialect and the caution depiction to citizen interest. In the third segment, I analyze the localization of Shanghai's working class literature. In brief, the localization was caused by the worker writers' culture level. The politics intervening literature excessively was another reason for the localization. In the last chapter, I choose the most well-known four worker writers: HuWangchun, FeiLiwen, TangKexin, LuJunchao. I comment on their works and point out the specialties and shortage of their creation. By the method, I show the appearance of Shanghai's working class novel.
