The thesis attempts to analyze identity category, different category and similar category and their language form through a comparison of cognitive.Three categories addressed in this thesis on the basis of cognitive linguistics, cognitive psychology, prototype view and linguistic typology discuss to approach modern Chinese language form.There are 6 chapters in this thesis.Chapter 1 IntroductionSome early studies, inadequacy of modern studies, meaning and methods in this research are discussed in this chapter. Also cognitive and language structure, comparison and identical, differences and similaraties descriptive and metaphorical theories are reviewed. This chapter further explains comparison is a logical base of identical and differences, expounds objective and subjective exprestions are two different rhetoric motivations of language expression, so that leads to descriptive and metaphorical language structures.Chapter 2 A study of categoryExpound the cognitive basis of identity category and three tipes of it: substansive, type and equivalent. Here, from the angle of language typology, observes identity category in Vietnamese, French and English language forms. Also is discussed language structure of descriptive and metaphorical theories in modern Chinese language.Chapter 3 A study of different categoryForm the theory of different category, differentiate into three types: substansive difference, type difference and equivalent difference. Also observes different category in Viatnamese, French and English language forms, and is discussed different category in modern Chinese language.Chapter 4 A study of similar categoryHere is discussed from identity to characteristic uniformity and differentity to characteristic ununiformity of cognitive basis and types. From the angle of language typology, is discussed similar category in Vietnamese, French and English language sentences, especially in modern Chinese metaphor, simile, antonomasia and irony structured with similar category.Chapter 5 ConclusionThe thesis here summarizes main point of view of this study work, points out further problems and inadequacy.Appendix A Review of the Early StudiesThis is a review of identity category and comparative category in early studies, and also discusses some key problems.
