Lee's Literary Thought

Li RiHua is a writer , reviewer and appreciator of late Ming dynasty. Under the situation of the prevalence of the XinXue at that time, his literary theory demonstrates the distinct characteristic of the time. But he is free beyond the scholar style and the writing style of that time. And demonstrates his unique personality glamour and literary theory. But people always have only noticed his indifferent to fame or gain and cultured side, ignore his enthusiasm of the national economy and the people's livelihood. It is one-sided for understanding of him. This text perspects his literary theory under the multidimensional visual field, tries hard to carry on overall assurance to its psychology of personality and literary theory.Excluding the foreword and the conclusion, this text divide eight chapters altogether. The part of foreword explains the current research situation, research reason, research approach and the innovation of the study. On the basis of the discussion of the text, the conclusion gives a history localization of the impact of Li RiHua and his literary theory.Chapter one is Li RiHua's life and situation of making friends. This chapter is a foundation for the discussion of his literary theory next.Chapter two is the era background that Li RiHua lives. It concludes three respects: politics background, economy (including social morals ) background, ideology and culture background. This spreads out a space-time background for the expansion of his personality and literary theory.Chapter three is Li RiHua's personality and psychology. Under the influence of the background of that time described above, there is a great change in the scholar's psychology. They become leisurely, comfortable, latent, meditate and vulgar. Li RiHua conforms with them too in these respects. But he cares to the national economy and the people's livelihood which surmounts his time.Chapter four is Li RiHua's XingLing theory. This is the place where he conforms with the literature and art theory of that time. It emphasizes true disposition, talent, inspiration, distinction. On the other hand, he doesn't deny the accumulation of knowledge. He not only dispels inclination of mysticism, but also cures the weak illness of the later and decadent stage of the GongAn school.Chapter five is Li RiHua's JingYi theory. He thinks that idea is first for the literary and artistic creation. And pays much attention to the decorating and management of the image. He also divide Jing into three different levels: the holding of the body, the looking of the eye, the swimming of the idea. This communicates with the sincere disposition of his XingLing theory.Chapter six is Li RiHua's aesthetic theory. This chapter has three parts: Dan, Qu and HuangHan.Chapter seven is Li RiHua's function theory. He thinks that the literature and art has two functions. One is the function of enjoying oneself and unloading oneself. The other is the function of society, i.e. causing and using for generation, which is not the education and preach of the tradition,but communicates with the ShiXue at the end of Ming dynasty. And this is where he surmounts his time.Chapter eight is the comparison between Li RiHua and GongAN school. Although Li RiHua and GongAN school both emphasize XingLing, true feeling and intellectual feelings, they have different understanding of feeling. The feeling of Li RiHua is refined. But the feeling of GongAN school is unrefined. In conformity with this, the aesthetic ideal of them is also different. One is refined, the other is vulgar. By the comparative study of them, we can further perspect the connection and difference between Li RiHua and literary world of late Ming dynasty.
