This dissertation is a study on T.S.Eliot's poetic thoughts from a new angle. It regards Eliot's different poetic ideas as a whole with interrelations, and pay attention to its internal development. Such a research through a integral point of view and from a development perspective will benefit the understanding of Eliot's poetic thoughts. The paper will conduct its analysis from four aspects. The first chapter is mainly on Eliot's basic poetic thinking, including his emphasis on the self-disicipline of literature, "impersonal" poetics, and his suggestion of "integrity of sensibility".These poetic ideas is close related with each other. The "impersonal" poetics strongly embodied Eliot's emphasis on literature self-referentiality ,and the suggestion of "integrity of sensibility" properly correct Eliot's negation of the sensibility when opposes Romanticism. The second chapter continues to analysize Eliot's poetic thoughts from a perspective of development. In the discussion of "Tradition and Individual Talents",Eliot's attention has shifted. After 1930,Eliot more obviously attaches importance on personal factors and individual talents with regard to literature. The idea "objective correlative" is at the same time reflected. With the consideration of the plurality of writers and readers, and the complexity of language, the idea of objective correlative is in fact never as useful as ever. Eliot also stresses the dialogicality and temporality in literature after 1930,suggesting the development of his poetic thoughts of early times. The third chapter is aimed to reveal the sources of Eliot's poetic thoughts, consisting of observation in literature, critical thinking, philosophy and religion. Different kinds of influences directly affect Eliot's poetic thinking,so this part of discussion is necessary, especially the relation between Eliot and the British new Hegelian F.H.Bradley is one blind spot of our current relevant research, and the anti-binary religious pursuit is also being neglected by critics. The last chapter is to make clear Eliot's poetic thoughts through comparison. On one hand,we will look closely at Eliot's poetic thinking in the development of western poetic theories, showing his differences with New Critics and his similarities with the deconstuctive poetics. On the other hand,we come to the topic of "T.S.Eliot and China",revealing The Nine-Leaf School's variation of Eliot's poetics of time and how the Chinese versions of Four Quartets influence the presentation of Eliot's poetic thoughts.
