An Analysis on the social strata in London between the 13th and 15th Centuries is cross-disciplinary subject of historico-sociology. In this dissertation, an effort is made, with the sociological approach and, in particular, the theory on the social strata of sociology, to study of the evolution of the social strata of London in the period 1200-1500, and vicissitude of every social stratum of London and the factors which caused their vicissitude as well.Seven chapters are presented in the book:Chaper one: Of methodology on the Studies in the Urban History. First, by a short review and criticism of main works in Urban History made by scholars in sociology, law and history on home and abroad, we find that a survey is far from being made of all social strata of a city as whole in these three fields, and therefore still awaits its researchers from the perspective of sociological history; and second, we make a brief interpretation on the social stratum theories hold by Marxist and non-marxist scholars.Chapter two: The two staring-points of the analysis on the social strata in London: the medieaval city of London was descended from that laid by the Romans in later antiquity, and had thus been limited in its extension in a long time; the society of London were classified into five strata: bureaucratic aristocrate, traders and craftsmen, clergy, practitioner, the underclass.Chapter three: The Evolution of the Political Status of London and the Formation of the Aristocracy.
