Wang is one of the important poets in the development of the poem and poetry of the Qing Dynasty. People of that time regarded him as the distinguished poet just like Yuanmei, Jiangshiquan, Zhaoyixiang. The works of Wangwenzhi excelled the predecessors in number and quality. However, maybe because his reputation of his poems was overshadowed by that of his works, those who talked about poems in Qing Dynasty seldom mentioned Wangwenzhi, and even those who mentioned him related him with his books rather than his poems. Wangwenzhi and Yuanzicai enjoyed high prestige contemporarily and Wangwenzhi was overseas acknowledged by his calligraphy. However, his superb and unique poems were overshadowed by the calligraphies. It is no wonder that when talking about Wangwenzhi, people would favor his calligraphies which were said to be like those of Zhaowuxing, rather than his poems while the truth was that his poems were far better than those of Zhaowuxing."Governor is good at calligraphy and the poems are deep, pure, of great essence and outdates other contemporaries", said Xuke in his work. Therefore, the negligence of the achievement of his poems and poetries resulted in a great regret in the research of poems in Qing Dynasty and even the Chinese literature history.In the paper"Classic Poems and Prose of Jiangsu for the 300 Years", which was written by Qianzhonglian, brought out the essentials of the outlines of the poems'development in the last 300 years in Jiangsu.
