The social background and literary thoughts of Ming Dynasty lead to the status change of Su Shi's prose as well as the shift of its researching focus, which also reflects the transformation of the social climate such as the writing style and esquire ethos. Just as the prophase, metaphase and anaphase of Ming Dynasty, the research of Su Shi' s prose during that time can accordingly be divided into three phases, called the period of smooth development, transition and prosperity. The prophase of Ming Dynasty is a plain moment for the research of Su Shi's prose.. To the readers, they read mainly for the success of the later held imperial examination, they will thus choose materials which is likely to do their benefits. The appreciation of Su Shi's prose is closely related to his moral integrity, so relevant articles such as the statements and plans are particularly welcomed. However, extensive reading is seldom seen, so be the packing up and publication of Su Shi's corpus which is a long process of 110 years and presided by more than three person, among them the publication of the 12-volume continuation be the most important. Due to the domination of officialdom in the literary field, the style of grace and elegance is appreciated, so it~1 s not Su Shi 's works but those of Ou'yang Xiu' s that people enjoy most. This phenomenon leads to the lack of famous scholars on Su Shi's prose researching and the lack of ardent advocators, which is determined by the situation of economy, politics, ideology and culture of that time.Su Shi's prose is expelled by the former Group 7 when they dominate the literary field, while at the same period Wen Zheng-ming, Yang Shen, Lang Ying and the like attach some importance to it. The school of Tang Song think much of the prose in Dynasty Han as well as Dynasty Tang and Dynasty Song. They set 8 writers , especially Ou'yang Xiu and Zeng Gong, of Dynasty Tang and Dynasty Song as an example and this is influential. The Anthology of Su Shi's Prose compiled by Mao Kun contains his criticism on Su Shi' s prose, while his later opinion shows some new change. The latter Group 7 seems easier than the former Group 7, while this change happens during the later half of their lives. Wang Shi-zhen enjoys Su Shi' s anecdotes as well as his letters and postscripts, which shows a new direction towards the prose research. At that time Xu Wei also advocates Su Shi' s essays. In the metaphase of Ming Dynasty, the presumptuous life style of literati, the development of philosophy and the prosperity of commerce contribute a lot to the overall understanding and research on Su Shi' s prose and result in its transitory aspect. After the death of Wang Shi-zhen, this research is influenced by theories of Li Zhi ,Yuan Zong-dao,Yuan Hong-dao and Yuan Zhong-dao. This includes 4 facets. First, Su Shi' s prose is considered by all to be the most valuable among those of the well-known writers. Second, besides the plans, statements, preludes and notes, Su Shi' s letters, postscripts and miscellaneas receive an overwhelming welcome. Accordingly, Su Shi himself, his anecdotes and criticism on his works are all cherished by people. Third, there immerge profound views on problems such as the source of Su Shi's prose, the relationship between the prose and his academic works. Fourth, the compilation and publication of Su Shi's prose reaches its prosperity. This pomp is closely related to social background of that time and continues only a short period. With the perdition of Ming Dynasty and the stabilization of the rule of Qing Dynasty, this upsurge soon subsidizes and Su Shi 's prose returns to the position paralleled to other eminent writers.
