"The Twenty-four Modes of Poetry" which is regarded as Sikongtu's is classical works and has been paid much attention to since Qing Dynasty and is regarded as a masterpiece linking together the venation of the development of ancient Chinese poetry study. It becomes classical through the reception of reader. The reason and process is subject of this paper. Based on their achievements, this disquisition discourses upon the process how receiptor of the book continuously developed and extended its merit. It is divided into seven parts:Part 1: Relying on the achievements along with the production of "the Pseudograph Discrimination", this part issues the nonage state and spreading ways of "the Twenty-four Modes", which resembles "the Twenty-four Modes of Poetry" in the content, analyses the creation of "The Twenty-four items of Modes of Poetry" and discusses Zheng Man and Fei Jingyu's principal cognition about "the Twenty-four Modes of Poetry".Part 2: Wang Shizhen's explanation laid a foundation for "the Twenty-four Modes of Poetry" on Chinese poetry study, while it consolidated the relationship between Sikong Tu and the book that it was embodied into "Imperially-authorized Complete poetry in Tang Dynasty" published during Kangxi Times and later beloved by Emperor Qianlong, and numbers of sequels such as "A Sequel to the Twenty-four Modes of Poetry" by Yuan Mei greatly expanded its reputation.Part 3: This part probes into Weng Fanggang and Shen Deqian's understanding of "the Twenty-four Modes of Poetry" on behalf of their personal views on poetry study. The annotating edition of "the Twenty-four Modes of Poetry" in Qing Dynasty had great influence in unscrambling the communication between its scheme and the circulation of the universe.Part 4: Based on Zhu Dongrun and Li Xiyu's research on the book, this part argues the state of its research before the 1950's.Part 5: The research on "the Twenty-four Modes of Poetry" stepped up in studying its scheme and western literature theory was applied in the unscrambling of the book such as form sense and semeiology.Part 6: The milestone of its research is the presentation of the pseudograph theory by Chen Shangjun and Wang Yonghao in the midst of the 1990's, which resounded in the academia. "The Pseudograph Discrimination" mainly argues in the aspects of philology, "twenty-four rhymes" and the etymology of the book, aimed at which, discussion was extended and the theory of the pseudograph was developed further.Part 7: This part introduce research on the Twenty-four Modes of Poetry abroad including Hongkong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Singapore and west countries.
