In recent decades, research of localizers in Modern Chinese is characterized by the application of methods such as cognitive linguistics and lexicostatistics, etc. and the achievement is very rich. In addition the typology theory on word-order probe into relevant linguistical phenomena with wide field of vision. Compared with these, localizers of Old Chinese had developed for thousands of years, but relevant research results seem to be overshadowed. The majority discussed would only stay on the surface, therefore it is not enough in both microscopic and macroscopic analysis.This dissertation attach most importance to language material of documents of Shi Shuo Xin Yu, etc. with the main research approach such as lexicostatistics and diachronic contrast, and expect to give a concise description of the usage of localizers in Chinese of mediaeval times.The introduction has proceeded with name of "localizers" and genesis of this selected works. Chapter one has reviewed relevant research results of localizers, and summarized the nature of linguistic material and usage of localizers in Shi Shuo Xin Yu.Chapter two is about semantical classification and diachronic contrast of representative suffixal localizers in Shi Shuo Xin Yu such as "shang" "xia" "nei" "zhong" "wai". These localizers had certain synchronic alternatives to the referential nouns. In comparative respect of lasting, suffixal localizers of Shi Shuo Xin Yu had developed obviously in the frequency and range of utilization and the trend of grammaticalization.Chapter three is about diachronic examination of word-order and function classification of the locative phrases in Shi Shuo Xin Yu. Through investigating that the preposition in "prep+N+L" was present or not, we could find that"N+L" structure became to be used independently more and more common without being led by preposition .At the same time the phrase of "prep+N+L" in a sentence had a trend of shift to be ahead of the verb during a long period of time, but word-order of the phrase of "N+L" had not taken a corresponding change .Chapter four involve a set of new developing localizers in Shi Shuo Xin Yu and Chinese of mediaeval times, such as "li" "bian" "tou" "xu", etc. There is also a discussion about postpositional usage of other localizers like"qian" "hou" "jian" "ji" "(yi)lai" "(yi)huan" "ce(pang/bang)" "biao" and so on.
