Jin And Yuan Dynasties Hunyuan Lau Family Research

In Jin and Yuan Dynasties in China, Lui family in Hunyuan is a famous family of literature, emerged such famous literary masters as Liu Hui, Liu Ji, Liu Congyi, Liu Qi and Liu Yu etc. They are famous in literature and history. More than ten of them had been different officials. Liu Hui was the first Number One Scholar of prose and poetry in Jin dynasty. After that, there were seven people in four generation from Luis family passed the imperial examinations one after another, and the family was called "a family of imperial examination". Of them, Liu Congyi and his sons Liu Qi and Liu Yu were well-known. They were regarded as Liu Xin and Liu Xiang in Han Dynasty. A lot of materials are remained about the family nowadays.This dissertation studies five famous people of Liu family in details, with a focus on Liu Qi. I first study their lives and experiences, and then their scholarly achievements, at last summarize their social influence at their times. My dissertation is divided into six chapters. Chapter one is to give an outline of Luis family in Jin and Yuan Dynasties. Chapter two is to introduce the life of Liu Hui, who was the founder of Lui family in Hun Yuan. Chapter three is about the life of Liu Ji, who was a famous poet in Jin Dynasty. Chapter four is about the life and achievements of Liu Congyi, who was a well-known statesmen and writer, and also interested in philosophy. Chapter five is to introduce the life andachievement of Liu Qi, who wrote Guiqianzhi, which is about literature and history in Jin Dynasty. He contributed greatly to the development of culture at the beginning of Yuan Dynasty. Chapter six is about the life and achievement of Liu Yu, who was famous for Xishiji, which is a book about the history of Mongol Empire and transportation between East and West.History of well-known Lui family in Jin and Yuan Dynasties has not well studied till now. Liu Hui and Liu Ji were famous writers in Jin Dynasty, but materials about them remained seldom now. Brothers, Liu Qi and Liu Yu, were called "Double Liu". About their lives, I have collect much materials, and studied in details. My dissertation give brief introduction about Liu Si and his daughter, Liu Yan and all numbers of this family as well.In Jin and Yuan Dynasties, nine people from Liu family passed the imperial examination, two of them were great masters. They had great influence on the development and prosperity of culture. Liu Qi and Liu Yu were interested in history. Their works are valuable materials to study Jin and Yuan Dynasties.Liu family's relations by marriage, such as Lei family in Hun Yuan, Wang family in Xiangyin, Wei family in Shunsheng were also well-known family. This dissertation introduces these families in relevant sections. During Jin and Yuan Dynasties , a lot of talent people emergedfrom Liu family and Lei family in Hunyuan, and the two families were respectfully called "Lei-Liu".
