German expressionism springing up at the beginning of the 20th century. Compared with other western modernism, expressionism, it's style, spirit, are unique. Due to German art tradition, society situation and influence of foreign culture, expressionism emerged and flourished. Expressionism reflected European social awareness indirectly.
