In handcraft industry, copper smelt industry in Guangdong was the champion of the country. Ceramic industry not only met the need of this country also the international markets. Ship making industry boomed unparallelly in history that accelerated the foreign trade. The transportation of inside and outside became advanced and convenient. The businessmen who went to Canton came from all over the world. All kind of commodities could be seen. Special local products gathered together. In a period of Dynasty Song, many exiles were sent to Guangdong. Some of them showed solicitude for the people and improved technology, which had an impact on the advance of the society, economy and culture. After the development of Dynasty Song, Pearl River Delta which heart was Canton surpassed the north of Guangdong and became the economic center of this province.
