The representation and processing of polymorphemic word is an important topic of cognitive psychology . By studying on processing of compound color words and polymorphemic words , mental representaton and processing of Chinese polymorphemic words were investigated, and models about processing of polymorphemic words were verified. There were 9 experiments in our reserches. In the expriment 1, by using compound color words which are composed of two color words as experimental material, effect on the activation of morphem was investigated. Result showed that when SOA was 100ms, there was no priming effect of the first morphem of compound color word, but there was marked priming effect of the second morphem. But when SOA was 200ms, none of priming effect was showed. In the expriment 2, by using adjusted color interference paradigm, effect of color words on perception of color block was investigated. Result showed that in both 100ms of SOA and 200ms of SOA, there was significant effect of color word on perception of color block..In the expriment 3, by using compound words which were composed of adjective word and color word as experiment material, it was found that about 100ms of SOA ,there was semantic priming effect of the not important morphem , but when SOA was 200ms ,there was no the effect. In the expriment 4, by using compound words which were composed of material noun and color word as experiment material, it was found that about when SOA was 100ms and 200ms , there was semantic priming effect of not important morphem , but when SOA was 400ms ,o the effect was not significant, but there was more significant priming effect of important morphem through all the time.In experiment 5, with the color interference paradigm and words which was same as color in form, sound and semantics , it was found that all information of word was activated. In experiment 6, with the priming paradigm and words which was not semantic transparency and composed of color word , it was found that there was inhibition of first morphem , second morphem and whole word . By varying of SOA, situation of inhibtion of themwas different. When SOA was 100ms and 200ms, the whole word was much more inhibited, but when SOA was 400ms, the inhibition of the whole word was not marked, and the inhibition of second word morphem was significant. In the experiment 7, basing on the expriment 6, the task was changed into judgement of semantic relation . The result showed that there was inhibition in all three conditions, and when SOA was 200ms the level of activation of first morphem was more, but when SOA was 400ms, the level of activation was lowered, and the level of activation of second morphe always was the lowest. In the expriment 8, with the color interference paradigm, it was found that in all situations of SOA, there was great significant effect of colore interference. In the expriment 9, by using semantic transparent compound words which was composed of imagable word as study material, it was found that there was inhibition on the activation of word with low semantic transparency, and there was less inhibition of more imagable than less imagable word.Basing on the study results , a new theory model was introduced. It was called mutiple-double representation system selective processing model, which comprised of two representation systems, and there were word morphem and word representations . The word morphem and whole word representation was in the same level, and there was a level between perception and semantic representation , which called selective filter. The selective filter could select the input of perception and adjust the energy of mind . So the theory model could explained more study results than former theory models.
