The Influnce On Tang-song Ci Poetry By Buddhism

The dissertation studies the relationship between tang-song ci and Buddhism.Yet, for a long time , the ci study field scarcely paid their attention to the reseach on that aspect on which the present dissertation, therefore, attempts to look into this issue, through which an exploration into the inner law and link are made on this angle, a thorough summary of rational sequence of ideas are presented in a clear and logical way, in the hope that the profound social cause, the culture background and the forms of ci study are discovered and the apparent gap in the field of ci study can be filled.The dissertation points out that, firstly the importation of Buddhism exerted a great influnce on the emergence and development of tang-song and enlarged the realm and capacity of the research on ci poetry,which mirrored the link and sympathetic response between the feeling, mentality and Buddhist doctrines. Secondly, the Sextual Style of ci, which is a popular literature type in tang-song ci, connected closely with Buddhism. The ancient Indian and Chinese reproduction worship culture and the sextual ideas mixed together into the Mahayana ( 大乘 ) classics of Buddhism so that it promoted its popularity overall into the upper class.The ci poets indulged in a sextual life, getting hold from both the theory and writing of Buddhist classics so that it made a advance on the prosperity and development of ci' writing. Thirdly ,the cause that tang-song ci writtened mostly by scholars and Upasaka (居士 ) lied in the close connection not only with the living style and the attitude, but also the religious experience and human solicitude of Upasaka Buddism (居士佛教) . Lastly, the belief in Sukhavati (净土宗) and Zen Buddhism (禅宗) especially their mergence of both, was prevalent in the scholars' minds which poured the suffering idea,Duhkhasatya (苦) and Sunya ( 空 ) concepts into the writing of ci poets,thus it accelerated the development of the taochan ci (逃禅词) which has different levels of ideas,such as quanshi ci (劝世词) ,mingdaoci (明道词) ,wudao ci (悟道词) and yinyici (隐逸词) etc.
