The dissertation consists of 8 chapters, 28 sections. To provide a basis for the researches, the first chapter traces to the source of the appellation of XinXue, and discusses the foundation of dividing its history into different stages. The second chapter narrates the history of XinXue in brief in the Northern Song Dynasty by five stages. The researches on the relation between XinXue and literature begin from the third chapter. They contain two parts: the first is the literature criticism in XinXue itself, mainly about ShiJing (诗经) hermeneutic; the second is the influence exerted on the literature of the Northern Song Dynasty by XinXue. The third chapter is on the ShiJing hermeneutic. The forth chapter analyzes the respect for MaoShiXu (毛诗序 ) and the types of overinterpretation in ShiYi.The fifth chapter researches the process of JingYi (经义) forming, and the influences on the style of scholars and academy of the late Northern Song Dynasty by examining students in JingYi. The sixth chapter researches the relation between "JingShu" (经术) and the form , strategy of expression and style of Wang An-shi's essays. The seventh chapter discusses the relation between Buddhism and Wang An-shi' s Buddhism poems. The last chapter discusses the relation between the theory of unifying the morality of XinXue and Wang An-shi's recognition of the applied function of literature. It also reveals the reason of despotism of thought and culture flaunting the banner of XinXue.
