Research On Anecdote Fiction Of Tang Dynasty & Five Dynasties

The anecdote fiction of Tang Dynasty & Five Dynasties have great values not only in the historical researching but also in ancient literature and documents studies. Because these fiction lost than a half and be lack of literary elements, the research about them have been neglected for a long time. This thesis makes a complete cleaning about these fictions from range, documents and categories. At the same time, its subjects, writing character and relate form is analyzed systematically too. In addition, this thesis researches the relations among these anecdote fictions and the prose romances, marvels fictions, and historical books, to reveal the anecdote fictions' appearance and important significance in the fiction of Tang Dynasty & Five Dynasties.The first chapter of the text: On the basis of the research results of the senior scholars, according to ancient opinion about classical fiction, the range of these fictions is defined, and the sum total is counted. There are 11.9 works of anecdote fiction, which can be divided into four categories: Yishi (82 works), Suoyan (13 works), Bianding (13 works), Zhengui (13 works). The developing period of anecdote fiction of Tang Dynasty & Five Dynasties can be divided four phases: Early and Flouring Tang Dynasty (A.D.618-761) , Middle Tang Dynasty (A.D.762-846), Late Tang Dynasty (A.D.847-907), Five Dynasties (A.D.907-960) .The Second chapter of the text: It discusses the anecdote fiction of Tang Dynasty & Five Dynasties administratively and emphatically according to different period. In fact, this chapter is a short history of anecdote fiction of Tang Dynasty & Five Dynasties. Among the anecdote fictions in Early and flouring Tang Dynasty, the thesis reveal the basic characters and typical meanings of Chaoye Qianzai (Anecdotes of the Court and the Commonalty) and Sui-Tang Jiahua (Anecdotes of Sui and Tang Dynasty). This two works are taken as the represents of Yishi and Suoyan fictions seperately. Additionly, the authorstudies the connotation of Shuolin (Forest of Sayings) and notices the relation between this kind of works and Leishu. In the Middle Tang Dynasty, more attentions are paid for Guoshi Bu (Supplementary of Imperial Hostory) and four kinds of fictions about the period of Kaiyuan (A.D.713-741) and Tianbao (A.D.742-756). Meantime, the relationship between anecdote fictions and historical works are involved in analyzing the contents of Tanbin Lit (Talk of Visitors) and DatangXinyu (New Talk of Tang Dynasty). On the research about the anecdote fictions of Late Tang Dynasty, the author attacks importance on the theme characters of the and deal with the problems by the tracing subjects of Dazhong period (A.D.847-859), Shihua (chantefable) and Keju (imperial examinations). When studying the works of Five Dynasties, the thesis starts from the Yunxian Sanlu, and announces its forgery nature. At the same time, the author corrects some wrong ideas about the nature of Tales of Kaiyuan and Tianbao Periods, points out it is rather a works as Yunxian Sanlu which were written for forging literary quotations and something's another name than a true tales about Kaiyuan and Tianbao periods.After clearing up and analyzing most of anecdote fictions of Tang Dynasty & Five Dynasties, the chapter three probes into the typical characters, reality forms and relationship among four types of fictions Yishi, Suoyan, Bianding, Zhengui futherly. There are 9 Tishi works, 4 Suoyan works with sense of humor, 13 Bianding works and 13 Zhengui works discussed in the chapter. So we can know the four types of anecdote fiction more clearly.Besides the existing three chapters said above, this thesis should include another three ones according to the original writing plan. The forth chapter will discuss the relations among anecdote fiction and the prose romance and the marvels fiction, research the infiltration and containing each other between anecdote fiction with marvels fiction, contrast the anecdote fiction with prose romance in some aspects, for example, narrative models, narrative...
