The article expounds the development of the Imperial Academy in Ytlan Dynasty from two different angles.Studies in time sequence, totally show the developing course of the Imperial Academy in Ytlan Dynasty by discussing the establishment and development of the imperial education in Great Mongol Empire and the Mongol Imperial Academy, the Imperial Academy and the Hui-hui Imperial Academy in Ytlan Dynasty. The imperial education of the Great Mongol Empire centering on the aim of running school experienced the change from the character education, which implied the first conflict on running school between the Mongol rulers and the lian Confucian scholars. But it didn't express that the Mongol rulers admitted the throne position of Confucianism in imperial education. Once Khubilai ascended the throne and established the Ytlan Dynasty, his general and special policies appeared a tendency to establish the orthodox position of Mongol culture. The Han Confucian scholars did their best to promote and develop the Confucianism for upholding Han system and striving for Confucian administration, while the se-mu nobilities would never give up their educational position in order to demonstrate their political right. The contest among different political powers was the basic reason that spurred the co-existence of three kinds of educationalsystems-the Mongol Imperial Academy, the Imperial Academy and the Hui-hui ImperialAcademy in Yuan Dynasty.Studies based on the special subjects, focus on the probing into the figures, the development of patterns of school running and regulatory regimes of the Imperial Academy in Ytlan Dynasty to reveal the Imperial Academy's unique features of school running and its position in the development of Chinese ancient education. In order to get the orthodox position in the imperial education, the officers in the Imperial Academy regarded it their duty to promote and develop Confucianism and carry the Confucian administration forward. They displayed great enthusiasm of keeping and protecting traditional achievements of Song Dynasty, led Ch'eng-Chu Neo-Confucianism into the imperial education and established the system of class division based on score accumulation, which made the standard of management in the Imperial Academy get to a new historical level. Many institutions in the Imperial Academy in Ytlan Dynasty deeply affected the development of that in Ming and Qing period.
