A Great And Failed Hero——ZhangJian And Nantong's Early Modernization

The research subject of this article is that ZhangJian?s modem thoughts and early modernization in Nantong district, which aims at finding the reason why ZhangJian is 揳 great and failed hero?in the process of China?s early modermza- tion. The article uses the methodology ?which gathers the experience of three generations theorists about modern development theory ?for reference. In the view of 搕radition and modernity? we can draw the conclusion that Zhang.Jian has a solid foundation of traditional Confucian and is short of modem rationality spirit.
