Study On LaoZi's Illustrations Of The Eighty-one Conversions

LaoZi's illustrations of the eighty-one conversions borned in the 13th century. By the way of the image it interpreted the story of"LaoZi enlighted barbarians after he reached the Western region",which was proud of Taoism.So the figures became new communication form in the end of the Jin Dynasty and the early Yuan Dynasty.LaoZi Pa-shih-i-hua T'u is very famous because of Laozi Huahu Jing,but it's because of Laozi Huahu Jing that LaoZi Pa-shih-i-hua T'u suffered prohibited and then disappeared when Taoism failed in debation of Buddhism-Taoism.One hundred years later LaoZi's illustrations of the eighty-one conversions circulated in certain areas with new features.Few block-printed edition,painting, rock carvings and other remains which we can see today become the thesis's object.The issue belongs to the comprehensive study,is beyond the previous case study and systematically research this map,including the situation of remains , the origins, historical context etc.This article,which based on a large number of field survey and combined historical documents and images of other religious stories,aims to reconstruct Pa-shih-i-hua T'u's history of generation, development, seclusion, return in the history context of Buddhism-Taoism relations with growth-decline and the course of three religions Syncretism.By the clue of image generation,bolition,comebacking,it's aim to show the relationship between this image and religious, political, faith of people,to display the image relationship of the interaction between Buddhism and Taoism.
