Li zicheng is the peasant uprising leader of the end of Ming Dynasty, and is called "the roving bandit" from the end of Ming to the beginning of Qing. But he is regarded as "Dashun armed forces general" or "the hero" in the Peoples'Republic of China whose the first leader is Mao Zedong. Therefore, the comments on Li zicheng are made with with a view of the ruling class in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Most scholars focused on the fate of Li zicheng in the republic of Chinese people. In the beginning of the Peoples' Republic of China, the historians at first discussed the class that li zicheng belonged to, the literary world studied the destined fate and the emperor's ideas of Li zicheng. Since the twenty-first century the class and ideas are no more the emphasis. The thinking about throughout the life course of Li zicheng has become the main theme. This paper at first summarizes the distribution of the Li zicheng legend, outlines circle of the legends, sums up the main types of the legends. Then taking time as a clue, combs the literatures of different historical periods, choose typical types of the plots, and compare the interactive rules in the literary work and the folk literature, at last studies the enduring vitality of Li Zicheng Legend with comparative view.This text is divided into five chapters:In the "Introduction", it mainly describes the present research of Li zicheng and significance of the topic. As a historical figure, Li Zicheng is a peasant uprising leader, from the Ming and Qing Dynasties to date, historians have never stopped their research about him; but research in literature, especially in the folk literature, is not enough. This paper combs the narrative of Li Zicheng legend in literature and folk literature from Ming and Qing Dynasties to the 17th century, compares the meaningful types of plots, compares and finds the interactive rules between two types of literature, but more importantly discusses the enduring vitality of the legend heritage in folk literature from comparison. The Introduction introduces the research situation, research methods, data sources and concepts.The first chapter is "the research overview of the Li Zicheng legend". This chapter has two sections. This chapter summarizes the distribution of the legend, sketches out three legend rings in Shaanxi, Beijing, Shanxi Henan, Hubei and Hunan, and divides the collected legends into three kind and eight types. By summarizing the collected legends, this chapter grasps of the whole of Li Zicheng legend, clarifies ideas better, and lays the foundation for the analysis of later chapters.Chapter II, "the main types of plots before Li Zicheng's uprising ",has two sections. This chapter summarizes the types of plots folk literature before uprising, analyzes the main conditions of "miraculous birth type" and "little intelligent type" in literature and folk literature, from comparison discusses the features of interactive rules in the type in literature and folk literature, and analyzes their cultural connotations.Chapter III, "the main types of plots when Li Zicheng's fighting", has two sections. This chapter summarizes the main types of plots when Li Zicheng was fighting.analyzes "the Li Zicheng's fighting type" and "the Destroyed Graves type" in literature and folk literature, and discusses the developing rules of the two kinds of literature and unique inheritance mechanism in folk literatureChapter IV, "the main types of plots after the defeat", has two sections. This chapter discusses the main types after Li Zicheng was defeated, analyzes the main conditions of "the Li Zicheng's Killed By Mistake Type" and "Becoming a Monk Type" in literature and folk literature, discusses strategy when literature and folk literature select a specific type.Chapter V, "the characteristics of the inheritance of Li Zicheng legend", has four sections. At first, this chapter discusses the characteristics of the inheritance by analyzing the base, the node and power of inheritance of Li Zicheng legend. The foundation of inheritance mainly is that folk literature selects and inherits key factors of motif, and the selection results that they absorb each other's advantage while they keep separate. The inheritance nodes are not continual, pay more attention to select key historical events and give the so-called reasonable and logical reasoning. In addition, the inheritance of folklore is a way of ethnic self-identity, whether speech narrative such as folk legend or behavior narrative, such as customs and etiquette, they are collective memory which the ethnic have constructed consciously. The collective memory will strengthen speech and behavior of narrative. The power of inheritance, the various narratives about Li Zicheng's fate in folk literature, on the one hand accounts from the differences of writer's different viewpoint, on the one hand from the worship tragic heroes in Chinese traditional culture, and "Undead Heroes "concept on the narrative technique.Secondly, the paper from the synchronic and diachronic level, tries to find the power of the permanent life in the inheritance of Li Zicheng legend. Specific scenery and the localized experience of people and age and so the appealing of heroes lay a solid foundation for the inheritance of Li Zicheng legend.
