As the headstream of Chinese culture,"I Ching"(Book of Changes)had great influences upon all the fields of traditional Chinese technologies including the Traditional Chinese Medicine.I Ching had many effects on naissance and development of TCM theories,bringing on the integration of I Ching and TCM called medicine-I Ching.However,as the scientism rises in modem society,people strongly animadvert on I Ching and the research of medicine -I Ching.Because of the wrong means,the goal of TCM modernization is in a plight.On this situation,doing research on the relations of I Ching and TCM is necessary,which has the important value to the theoretical developtment and clinical practices of TCM.Zhang Jing-yue was the greatest doctor of Ming Dynasty,who was not only accomplished in the TCM theories but also philosophy of I Ching.His achievement of medicine was deeply related to his profound knowledge of I Ching.His remarks on the relations of the TCM and I Ching have much enlightment on how to learn and develop the TCM for us,so doing reserch on Zhang Jing-yue' thinkings of medicine-I Ching has great realistic significance.This thesis consists of nine chapters:In Chapter One,the history of the integration of I Ching and TCM is reviewed.Moreover, the studies of the medicine-I Ching and Zhang Jing-yue are summed up.In Chapter Two,the effects of I Ching on the Internal Classics are analyzed in two respects.Firstly,analyze the the Internal Classics how to use the thinking models of I Ching such as Yin Yang,Five Elements and Divinatory Symbols to establish the medical theoriesSecondly,analyze the influences of thinking patterns of I Ching on the foundation of the medical theories of the Internal Classics.I Ching has lots of thinking patterns,of which the Symbolic and Numerical thinking pattern,Holistic thinking pattern,Variational thinking pattem,Equational thinking pattern have much more influences on the Internal Classics than other thinking patterns.In Chapter Three,the academical background of medicine-I Ching theory of Ming Dynasty is investigated from these two aspects.Firstly,the philosophy during the Song—Ming period provided new concepts and academic elements for the medicine-I Ching theory of Ming Dynasty,which greatly upgraded the academic level of the medicine-I Ching theory of Ming Dynasty.Secondly,the influences of Taoism on the medicine-I Ching theory of Ming Dynasty should not be ignored.The foundation of the Life Gate Theory is nearly related to the Taoist theories.In Chapter Four,Zhang Jing-yue' lives and medical books are reviewed.According to the textual research,the birth year and the dead year of Zhang Jing-yue respectively should be 1563 and 1640.Furthmore,the first publishing year of JingYue Medical Encyclopedia should be 1700.In Chapter Five,the TaiJi theory of Zhang Jing-yue' thinkings of medicine-I Ching is analyzed.The TaiJi concept of Zhang Jing-yue' thinkings of medicine-I Ching has three definitions:the first one is Qi,the second one is the Life Gate,the third one is Heart.In Chapter Six,the YinYang theory of Zhang Jing-yue' thinkings of medicine-I Ching is analyzed.Zhang Jing-yue laid equal importance on Yin Qi and Yang Qi.Zhang Jing-yue applied his YinYang theory to clinical practices.The YinYang theory of Zhang Jing-yue is different from the one of Zhu Dan Xi.In Chapter Seven,the Five Elements theory of Zhang Jing-yue' thinkings of medicine-I Ching is analyzed.Zhang Jing-yue for the first time pointed out that every element of Five Elements consists of anoter four elements.The viewpoint improves the Five Elements theory of TCM.Zhang Jing-yue also expounded the relations of YinYang and Five Elements.In Chapter Eight,the application of I Ching 'divinatory symbols to the medical theory by Zhang Jing-yue is analyzed.Zhang Jing-yue used the FuXi 64 divinatory symbols to explain the life course of man.In Chapter Nine,the meanings and the traits of Zhang Jing-yue' thinkings of medicine-I Ching are analyzed.Zhang Jing-yue' thinkings of medicine-I Ching is significant in the history of medicine-I Ching.First,Zhang Jing-yue for the first time systemically demonstrated the instructional effects of I Ching on the TCM.Second,Zhang Jing-yue pointed out that the TCM should incarnate the theories of I Ching.There are two traits of Zhang Jing-yue' thinkings of medicine-I Ching.First,His thinkings of medicine-I Ching was based on the philosophy during the Song—Ming period.Second,Zhang Jing-yue used lots of symbols and charts of I Ching to explain the medical theories.
