| The depression is the predominant disorder of emotional dysphrenia, a syndr- ome with the characteristic of chronic and obvious turndown in spirits. It is a common and frequently-occurring disease which is harmful to peope's health of body and soul in the 21st century.In the fast paced modern society, pressure of people increasing ,the incidental rate of depression is tending to increase in recent years. Research of this disease already causes domestic and foreign scholar's attention. At present regarding the western medicine treatment , which has the characteristics of slow effect , the big side effect, the expensive price and the patient complying the inferiority. But using the Chinese medicine to diagnose and selecting effecttive remedy to prevent and control the depression, which has the bigger superiority.The depression pathogenesis is complex, the true theory was not affirmed until now. Therefore, the topic which is through depression patient's nerve cognition func- tion damage and neuroelectricity physiology discussion and research, thus providing the possible evidence etiology of mechanism for the depression. It will provide the useful basis for the clinical early diagnosis and the early treatment of depression.This research mainly discuss depression's neuroelectricity physiology research and Chinese medicine dialectical treatment. Full text including three parts: The litera- ture summarizes, the clinical research and the theory discussion.The summary part discussioned progression of Chinese medicine and western medicine on etiology ,pathogenesis and theraeutics of depression.Analyzed and confirmed the curative effect on depression of some western medicines ,and some single herbs and complex prescriptions; summaried the characteristics and superiority of Chinese medicine dialectical treatment.Meantime summaried and analyzed superiorities and shortages of electrophysiology on research of inspirit diseases.With regarding to Chinese medicine of the depression, the modern specialist of medicine mainly discusse from the liver , thought the vital energy of the liver depressed and the losing liver the basic pathogenesis. Thus using the law of mediating liver to treat the disease. My tutor observes many depression patients in clinical to be insufficient of both kidney and liver by dialectical ways.The basic pathogenesis of the depression is deficiency of kidney-Qi and kidney-essence,stagnation of liver-Qi. The basic pathogenesis is deficiency of kidney-essence, the essential factor is stagnation of liver-Qi. According to its pathogenesis, we have better clinical results by invigorating kidney and regulating liver-Qi ,dispelling gloomy and soothing the nerves.This research is a controlled, random clinical trial .The 96 outpatients of the Dongfang hospital affiliated to the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine have been observed.The diagnostic criterion is based on CCMD-3, the scores of HAMD is over or equal to 18. The 78 people of control group is selected, which is examinated by EEG and EP to discuss the characteristics and applications of depression. The 80 outpatients was random selected in the depression group and divided into two groups, and each group was administered by chinese medicine and western medicine respectively, preiod of treatment is six weeks. The electrophysiology examination is run after treatment to observe the characteristics of brain-electricity on depression patients.The results were as follows:Firstly through the study of the spontaneous EEG changes in patients with depression ,we find that abnormal EEG of depression is mildly abnormal .Its waveform performance varys from slow abnormal alpha waves, generalized extensive low voltage, to alpha waves of slow asymmetry. Abnormal of localization restricted mainly to lobus frontalis.The rest is widespreadly abnormal. Rate of abnormal EEG in depression group is 63.9%, the abnormality rate was only 13.8% in the control group. There was significantly different between the two groups (P <0.05).Secondly through the experiments of brain evoked potential , we discovered that latent period and interphase in the BAEP's fundamental wave in the first happen- ed dedepression patient's BAEP prolong significantly(P< 0.05). Latent period of the P100 and the N145 in depression patient's VEP prolong significantly (P<0.05). The changes in the first happen depression patient's brain evoked potential shift has foll- owing characteristics: The profile changeability of wave is bigger, main wave group primarily. The latent period in the fundamental waves significantly extend. The wave amplitude of fundamental wave in BAEP and VEP reduces (P<0.05). The amplitude of female in BAEP and VEP is notably higher than that of male.Thirdly the depression patients who have deficiency of kidney and stagnation of liver by Chinese Medicine dialectical are administered with Chinese medicine and western drugs respectively .Through the Chinese and western drugs treatment, spirit symptom of the depresssion patient improving, latent period of fundamental waves in the VEP reduce signifycantly. But latent period of fundamental waves in the BAEP after treatment significantly reduce, while latent period of the fundamental wave interphase does not reduce significantly. Compared with the depression group , ratio of abnormal EEG in the chinese and western medicine reduces ,which has no notable difference.This topic ,through depression's neuroelectricity physiology clinical research by the treatment of invigorating kidney and regulating liver-Qi, discuss the TCM pathog- enesis of depression disorder ,to validate the curative effect of Chinese-medicine.The conclusions were as follows:Firstly the brain ekectricity changes of depression patients may have pertinence with insomnia ,down in spirits,distracting from attention and stagnant in thought.Their appreciation ,sensibility and thought were in division state of neuropathophysiological ,reflecting the activity of brain electricity,providing the basis of clinical examination and application in brain electricity.Secondly through the dynamic observation research of brain electricity physiolo- gy index in depression patient, we inferred that changes of VEP was index of state and changes of BAEP was index of property.As far as clinic , BEP may be seen as an exte- nsion of nerve system examination . EEG became a routine examination,providing in- formation of diagnosis ,prognosis and treatment in disease . It plays an important roles in clinical research, in the recovery evaluation and in the effect observation of the depression.Thirdly Yi'nao Jieyu Formula has better effects of invigorating Kidney, regula- ting Qi,dispelling Gloomy and Soothing the Nerves on depression illness.Thus Trad- itional Chinese Medicine, which is safe,effective and has little side-effect,has bigger development space in scientific research and clinic.With the development of methods in processing brain electrical signal , more effective analysis methods in brain electrical signal analysis will be applicated. The people will have the further understanding in regard to the mechanism of brain electr- icity activity, it also makes the new contribution to development in the clinical medic- ine and the basic medicine.
