Malignant Lymphoma In Patients With Multidrug Resistant

The cure of childhood leukemias and Hodgkin's disease with combination chemotherapy in the 1960s proved that human cancers, even in their advanced stages, would be cured by drugs. However, it has been recognized soon that drug resistance, both intrinsic and acquired,play important role in the failure of chemotherapy in common malignancies. It has been reported that expression of mdr-1 gene and P-gp contributes to multidrug resistance in mang human cancers. At present, the mdr-1 gene and its product, P-glycoprotein(P-gp, P170) is one of the "Hot Spots' in experimental oncology Efforts have been devoted to explore their importance in the successful treatment of malignant lymphomas.Using the PCR technique and immunohistochemical method, We detected the expression of mdr-1 gene and P-gp in 25 newly diagnosed and untreated, 25 relapsed malignant lymophoma patients.
