Zhouyi is an extremely important cultural classic in Chinese history, and is marked by extensive and profound knowledge and academic influences upon all the fields of science, technology and culture including medicine in ancient China. After looking back briefly to the origin, development and current research of "comprehensive understanding of the medicine and Zhouyi in combination", introducing the main points of diagram-number and argumentation in Zhouyi, and discussing the inner relationship between Zhouyi and TCM in Yin-Yang theory, this graduate dissertation places a special emphasis on exploring the deep influence of the image-number and argumentation in Zhouyi on the syndrome-differentiation systems of both Six Meridians and Eight Programs in TCM under different historical and cultural backgrounds and academic environments. The researches point out that the syndrome-differentiation of Six Meridians of Shanghan Lun refers to a medical theoretical system established by means of integration with symbol-lines structure and argumentative contents in Zhouyi, based on the clinical experiences and guided with the ancient plain dialectics. From the angle of thinking method, Shanghan Lun develops the doctrine of classifying syndromes according to Six Meridians in Suwen ? Treatise on Febrile Diseases by applying the conception of "one divinatory symbol with six lines" in Zhouyi, and furthermore divides the course of exogenous febrile disease into six stages, namely, three Yang and three Yin syndromes. Meanwhile, the syndromes of Six Meridians signify the six kinds of "diagrams", and the evolutions of these syndromes can be regarded as the imitations of "changes of the six lines". The Zhang Zhong-jing's knowledge of pathogenesis of exogenous febrile diseases and establishment of syndrome-differentiation of Six Meridians may be seen as either his caring forward and developing the thinking train of "comprehensive understanding of the medicine and Zhouyi in combination" in Suwen 'Treatise on Febrile Diseases or a concentrating embodiment of the symbol Pi (否) and Tai (泰) of Zhouyi from diagram to implication in Shanghan Lun. The transmitting-changing theory about Six Meridians syndromes was also enlightened and influenced by "doctrine of divinatory symbol changed due to Yang ascending and yin descending" of Zhouyi school in Eastern Han Dynasty. When an exogenous febrile disease is thought of a kind of divinatory symbol, the various ways, causes and different pathological presentations are not beyond the scope of Yin-Yang ascending-descending changes caused by struggle between pathogen and...
