Artificial Mechanical Heart Valve Clinical Comparative Study

The long-term results of four modles of mechanical prostheses, GK,Medtronic-Hall(MH),St.Jude Medical(SJ) and Sorin(SO), were elvaluated respectively. And a randomized comparison of ATS,a new bileaflet mechanical valve, and SJ was conducted to evaluate the early clinical and hemodynamic results of ATS.I. The comparison of the long-term results of valve replacement with GK,MH,SJ and SO.From July 1984 to June 1995, 2636 patients underwent valve replacement with GK(339 cases),MH(1192 cases),SJ(503 cases) and SO(602 cases) in our hospital.The cases of aortic valve replacement,mitral vavle replacement and aortic mitral replacement was 367,1690,and 579, respectively. The follow-up completeness of GK,MH,SJ and SO was 95%,90%,86% and 94%, respectively. The follow-up patient year was 1914.7,6005,1444.9 and 2128.2,respectively. The mean follow-up time was 6.5 years,5.9 years 3.4 years and 3.8 years,respectively. The longest follow-up time is 12.2 years, 12.2 years,9 years and 8.1 years,respectively. The hospital mortality was 9.1%,4.3%,2.4%,and 1.7%,respectively. The linearized rate of thromboembolism was 0.47%pty,0.39%pty,0.2%pty and 0.05%pty,respectively.
