The Tune Sanjiao Treatment Of Laxatives Constipation Clinical And Experimental Research

Constipation is a common and complicated symptom, including straining, hard stool, incomplete evacuation, stool cannot pass, infrequency. While it is often considered to be a trivial symptom, constipation can cause distress as well as serious complications if not treated effectively.According to the causes, constipation can be broken down into two general categories: functional and organic. Functional colon and rectal causes for constipation can be divided into slow transit constipation and pelvic outlet dysfunction. Often, the cause of slow transit constipation is not clear: laxatives abuse is a common cause. Some laxatives can, over time, impair the colon's natural ability to contract normally. Constipation induced by laxatives or "cathartic colon" is the anatomic and physiologic change in the colon that occurs with chronic use of stimulant laxatives.As a result, the constipation induced by laxative was treated with therapy of Communicating and Regulating SanJiao, meanwhile clinical observation and animal experiment was undergone. 1. Clinical studyA total of 60 patients with constipation induced by laxative were enrolled in this randomized controlled trial. Patients were divided into two groups treated by the therapy of Communicating and Regulating SanJiao as a treating group (n=30) and Simotang as a control (n=30) for 4 weeks. The efficacy was evaluated. The results showed that the significant effective rate of the treatment group was 83.3% with the total effective rate of 93.3% and without significant side effects. The significant effective rate of control group was 56.7% with the total effective rate of 80%. There was significant difference in the significant effective rate between two groups (P<0.05). The two kind of therapy had an obvious relieving effect on the symptoms of constipation but there was significant difference on frequency of bowel movement and stool consistency between two groups.The above results suggested that there was an obvious effect on constipation induced by laxative with the therapy of Communicating and Regulating SanJiao. 2 Experimental studyAn experimental rat model of constipation reconstructed by contract laxatives (Dahuang) mixed with the feed. The motility of cathartic colon was studied by activated charcoal suspension pushing test. Meanwhile the pathological changes of enteric nervous system were studied.
