According to the methods and principles of clinical epidemiology, thisstudy probes into the TCM syndrome pattern of primary hyperlipemia, inaccordance with the sufficient sampling provided by many hospitals inBeijing and the use of modern statistical methods. Results: 1. Using the factor analysis method, 9 TCM syndromes ofprimary hyperlipemia were found; 2. There is no significant statisticaldifference in the sex, clinical categorization of hyperlipemia, courseof disease, and other accompanying diseases over the distribution of the9 TCM syndromes (P>0.05). 3. There is a remarkable statistical differencein the age group over the distribution of the 9 TCM syndromes (P<0.01);4. Canonical analysis show that the patient's age is in direct proportionwith the para-kidney deficiency and stagnation of phlegm and blood stasissyndromes; BMI is in direct proportion with the para-stagnation of phlegmsyndrome; while laboratory indices show no statistical difference inrelation analysis. Conclusion: 1. Para-kidney deficiency, deficiency of the spleen, deficiency of the heart, stagnation of phlegm, and stagnation of phlegmand blood stasis are important pathogeneses of primary hyperlipemia; inaddition, hyperlipemia can affect the heart's function of regulating bloodcirculation, resulting in deficiency of heart qi; 2. TCM syndromes ofprimary hyperlipemia have no relation with the patient's sex, clinicalcategorization of hyperlipemia, and other accompanying diseases; 3. TCMsyndromes of primary hyperlipemia patients are closely related to theirages, as the patients' ages increase, the deficiency-related syndromesincrease; 4. Canonical analysis suggest that as the patients'ages increase, deficiency of kidney and stagnation of phlegm and blood stasis syndromesbecome prominent; 5. As the BMI of primary hyperlipemia patients increase, the degree of stagnation of phlegm worsens; 6. TCM syndromes of primaryhyperlipemia has no close relation with laboratory indices such as TC,TG, LDL-C, HDL-C, ApoAI, ApoB. Through our research into the TCM syndrome pattern of primaryhyperlipemia, our study revealed the clinical syndrome distribution andits pattern, which is significant for the TCM study of primaryhyperlipemia.
