Summarize the related problems in traditional Chinese medicine of rheumatoid arthritis, etiology, and syndrome differentiation and treatment of the disease and western medicine treatment.Comprehensive analysis of Chinese and western medicine treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Objective:The aim of this research is to summarize the ancient and modern literature on Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) TCM diagnoses and treatment regime. In addition, it also collects and analyzes115clinical cases of the RA to further determine the common methods used in RA diagnosis, treatment regime as well as usage of the drugs. Through this research, it will help and improve the efficiency of TCM doctors and researchers in terms of RA diagnoses and treatment regime. It also lays the foundation for further development of Chinese medicine, scientific research and provides as a reference.Methodology:Collection of115cases in RA clinical data (all cases from the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Division of Rheumatology) will be compiled and statistically analyzed115cases using Microsoft Office-Excel software. Studying of the RA TCM diagnosis methodology and treatments regime performed.Results:1. Total115clinical cases were collected and analyzed for this research. The breakdown as follows:27male patients (23.5%) and88women patients (76.5%). The male to female ratio is approximately3.25:1. Majority of the patients is above40-year-old and consists of84cases accounting for73.0%of all patients.2. The results showed that RA can be categorized into four main types. There are wind-cold-dampness retention,30cases (26.1%); hot and humid blockage,19cases (16.5%); cold and heat mixed,5cases (4.3%); phlegm blockage,11cases (9.6%) and health-Qi Xu with pathogens,50cases (43.5%). The treatment regimes used in RA are:disperse wind, resolve dampness, clear heat, dispel cold, smooth meridians, resolve blood and phlegm blockage.3. Total types of medication usage is39with a frequency. Conclusion:l.The cause of RA is presented in exterior excess with interior deficiency. Wind, cold, wet, heat, phlegm and blood stasis are the exterior excess symptoms. Liver, spleen, lung and kidney function deficiency as well as deficiency in Qi and blood are the exterior symptoms. In general, excess syndrome will usually show up at the initial stage of RA. When the disease was treated improperly, it would progress to the advanced stage and could appear as either coexistence of deficiency and excess or coexistence of cold and heat or both. Here, the coexistence of deficiency and excess or coexistence of cold and heat or both has already been present for this study. Besides, in doing research, there is also a need to take into consideration on season when the cases are selected as well as the patient's genetic predisposition.2.Most of the herbs used were warm-based. However, combinations of both warm-based and cold-based herbs were also used extensively, hence resulted in coexistence of cold and heat properties.3.The main categorized herbs used are bitter and acrid flavors while the sweet-based herbs may be used as an supplement.4.Drug meridian used were mainly belong to the liver, spleen and lung based on this study.5.Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) emphasizes on rheumatism medicine, antipyretic, blood circulation herbs, tonic medicine class of herbs.Part2Treatment of33cases of clinical research by adjusting bodily generic gout prescriptionObjective:The aim of this research is to collect and analyzes33clinical cases of the RA on the use of adjusting bodily generic gout prescription in treating Rheumatoid Arthritis under the category of wind-cold-dampness retention cum phlegm blockage to observation treatment regime。Methodology:Collection of33cases in RA clinical data (all cases from the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Division of Rheumatology) will be compiled and statistically analyzed33cases. Studying treatments regime performed. Results:The usage of ADJUSTING BODILY GENERIC GOUT PRESCRIPTION has shown certain degree of effectiveness in alleviating symptoms under the category of wind-cold-dampness retention cum phlegm blockage of RA.Conclusion:The use of adjusting bodily generic gout prescription in treating Rheumatoid Arthritis under the category of wind-cold-dampness retention cum phlegm blockage with P value<0.01has show effectiveness in alleviating the symptoms of RA.
