Objective To explore the mechanism of thymosinβ4-mediated cardioprotection in rat model of myocardial infarction. Methods We created myocardial infarction model in 54 Male Sprague-Dawley rats by left anterior descending coronary artery ligation. Treatment group was injected intraperitoneally with thymosinβ4 and control group with PBS. There were 27 rats in each group, We evaluated vascular growth-associated protein expression and cardiac function by western blot and echcardiography at 2 and 4 weeks, respectively. We examined infarct siz and myocardial contraction velocity. Results In treatment group, The results show that vascular growth-associated protein were highly expressed in cardiac tissue. The increase in myocardial contraction velocity and cardiac function were achieved due to thymosin P4 therapy. But the infarct size was reduced (P< 0.05).Conclusion These findings suggest that Tβ4 protect cardiac tissue against post-ischemic organ dysfunction.
