Objective:To systematize the Chinese umbilical therapies recorded in the ancient major literatures, to summarize its origination and development as well as the variety of approaches on its application,to explore the law of the application of the prescriptions for umbilical therapy, so as to provide a reference for basic theoretical research and clinical application of umbilical therapy. Methods:applying the method of combining Chinese Traditional philology and the modern data mining techniques to establish databases for commonly used umbilical prescriptions, and to analyze the law of applications on umbilical therapy prescriptions. Results:From Xianqin dynasty to today, umbilical therapy's basal theory was gradually perfected, umbilical therapy's prescriptions and diseases were gradually increasd.Data mining suggests the collection of core presciptions on umbilical treatment, confirmed part of the drug pairs that are already known, revealed the mode of fundamental compatibilities of group umbilical therapies, digged out the adaptation diseases for umbilical therapy,and Pointed out the correlation of treated diseases and typical formulations of umbilical therapy,summarized its characteristics and usage characteristics. Conclusion:The results from data mining fully displayed the law of how to apply umbilical therapy prescriptions, and provided with valuable reference for scientific research and clinical use. The Establishment of Data base and data mining process provided a new research model for modern studies of human umbilical therapy. Umbilical therapy plays a comprehensive regulatory role, including the functions of meridians,acupoints,acupuncture and moxibustion, physical therapy and drugs, each cooperate with each other,promote and activate each other,and combine with each other,which leading to an amplified effects for physical treatment.
