To study the relationships of Remark抯 nerve, sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves, the present study chooses 14 adult hens, weighing 1.0 to 2.0kg. HRP or CB-H1RP solution is injected into the Remark抯 nerve of the rectal segment. Two to five days later, the hens are perfused with fixture via the left ventricle. The spinal ganglia, sympathetic trunk ganglia and spinal cord in the thoracic and lumbosacral segments, the splanchnic nerve, the adrenal ganglia, the nodose ganglia, the jugular ganglia, the medulla oblongata, the pelvic nerve, the cloacal ganglia and the Remark抯 nerve are collected and sectioned at 5Oum with freezing microtome. The sections are treated with tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) and observed with bright light microscope. The results show that 1) the Remark抯 nerve consists of primary afferent fibers from the spinal ganglia, the sympathetic postganglionic fibers from the sympathetic trunk ganglia and the parasympathetic 27 efferent fibers from the sacral spinal cord. Most of the primary afferent fibers do not project along with the pelvic nerve. The parasympathetic preganglionic fibers project along with the pelvic nerve. Most of them project along with the ipsilateral pelvic nerve and a few along with the contralateral pelvic nerve; 2) the sensory neurons are distributed in the LS7-LS12 spinal cord and accumulated in the segments LS9-LS 11; 3) the sympathetic postganglionic neurons are located in the LS8-LS 11 sympathetic trunk ganglia and accumulated in the LS9 and LS 10; 4) the parasympathetic preganglionic neurons are founded in the LS7-LS1 1 spinal cord and accumulated in LS9; 5)the vagus don抰 project to the Remark抯 nerve of the hens; 6)Most fibers project orally along Remark抯 nerve of the hens and a few project aborally.
