Railway passenger station is the fundamental production unit of railway passenger transportation and the key passenger transport business service window for railway transportation departments. With the construction and development of passenger dedicated railway lines, the progressive forming of high speed railway network and the popularization of decentralized and self-regulated centralized traffic control system in China, and considering the technological processes of track utilization and its influence factors in railway passenger stations, it's urgent to study various fields such as automatic establishment problems of track application arrangement and carriage operations plan, real-time adjustment problem and the development of track utilization decision support system completely and systemically. These topics help to build the perfect track utilization optimal theory system of railway passenger stations whose research has important theoretical and practical vale. Therefore, the essential characteristics, modern scheduling features and applicable rules of track utilization in railway passenger stations are all explored actively. With increased in-depth thinking gradually, the track utilization optimal methods and application problems in railway passenger stations are studied systemically and explored deeply in the following aspects.(1) Technological processes of track utilization and its influence factors in railway passenger stations are analyzed systemically. Then, the complex and changeful track utilization optimal problems are abstracted as new style composite scheduling problems, proved to be NP-Hard problems. Also, the essential characteristics and key scientific problems of track utilization in passenger stations are further explored.(2) Capacity application, routing arrangement and automatic establishment problems of track application arrangement and carriage operations plan in railway passenger stations are all analyzed deeply. The series models and algorithms of track application arrangement in passenger stations and carriage operations in passenger technological stations are all constructed. Moreover, the computational complexities of track utilization optimal problems with different circumstances are analyzed. Then, the optimal strategies and methods of automatic establishment problems of track application arrangement and carriage operations plan are put forward.(3) Due-window scheduling and coupled problems of track utilization and carriage operations in railway passenger stations are put forward. Then, coupled due window scheduling models of track utilization and carriages'placing-in and taking-out operations are both constructed. Also, the best applicable rules for making and adjusting track utilization plans with different conditions are also designed so that the disturbance problems among train and shunting operations and due-window and coupled problems of track utilization in railway passenger stations can be solved effectively.(4) Basic disciples for real-time adjustment of track utilization in railway passenger stations are designed and the real-time controllable scheduling model and its coupled due window scheduling model are both constructed. Real-time adjustment optimal methods of track utilization based on couple thinking are further put forward. Thus, real-time adjustment optimal problems with or without carriages'placing-in and taking-out operations for track utilization in railway passenger stations are both solved in practical ways.(5) Design principles and purposes of track utilization decision support system of railway passenger stations are given, and the functions and performances demands and data composition structure are analyzed completely. Besides, on basis of decentralized and self-regulated control principle, the system model, functions and system architecture are also designed. Then, series of key techniques and implementation methods are put forward to research and develop the track utilization decision support system of railway passenger stations.
