China is currently in the stage of rapid urbanization. Our constructions on urban landscape are in full swing. With the distinct improvement of the city's constructions and the development of the living standard of the people, more and more attention is paid to the landscape environment of urban public space. As one of the most important factors of urban public space, the optimization of urban landscape becomes significant.However, the quality of urban landscape in most Chinese cities seems not to be optimistic. Some local authorities like to build ostentatious landscape projects in order to make a good impression or show their achievements. Some designers used to copy plans that have been built in other cities. These all lead to problems such as the disappearing of urban characteristic, the confusion of the whole urban landscape systems, etc.Urban landscape is an important part of urban system, its optimization not only related with the endowment of itself, but also affected by outside environmental factors. By using systematic theories, this paper considers urban landscape a complex system, and analysis the optimization principles of urban landscape system. The main contents are summarized as follows:(1) Studying the basic theory of the urban landscape system optimization. First of all, the thesis reviews the development procedure of the systems thinking and systems science, and analyzes the basic concepts and ideas of systems science. Then, based on universal principles of the system, points out that urban landscape system is a subsystem of social and human system and it is available to use systems science methods to analyze the urban landscape system. Subsequently, the thesis discusses the choice of optimization method and the design of the optimization object from the perspective of systems science.(2) Analyzing the urban landscape system from the perspective of system science. First of all, the thesis studies the concept and connotation of the landscape and urban landscape to clear the study object. Then, it uses system theory approach to analyze the urban landscape system from the aspects of the element of urban landscape system, the structure of urban landscape system and the environment of urban landscape system. Subsequently, combining the characteristics of the urban landscape and the theory of system science, the thesis proposes optimization methods and optimization objects of the urban landscape system.(3) Studying the element optimization principle of urban landscape system from the perspective of system science. First of all, analyzing the theoretical meaning, theoretical basis, optimization objective and optimization methods of the optimization of system elements from the perspective of systems science theory. Then, combining the characteristics of the urban landscape, the thesis discusses the meaning and significance of the element optimization of urban landscape system. Subsequently, the thesis designs and discusses the element optimization principle of the urban landscape system, from the aspect of the element endowment of urban landscape system and the interaction between psychological factors and urban landscape system elements.(4) Studying the structure optimization principle of urban landscape system landscape from the perspective of system science. First of all, according to the hierarchy principle of systems science, the thesis analyzes the structure optimization of the urban landscape system from the macro and meso aspects. In the meso-structural optimization area, based on the ordering principle of the system science, the thesis proposes that in order to form an organic urban landscape system, elements of the urban landscape system have to be combined by certain rules. And then three kinds of optimization principle are proposed, including the axis optimization principle, the texture optimization principle and Master-slave optimization principle.In the macro-structural optimization area, based on the emergence principle of the system science, the thesis proposes that in order to "emerge" out of the whole is greater than its parts, the structure of the urban landscape system elements need to meet three conditions, including the heterogeneity of scale, the scale effect and the level of the hierarchy. And then three kinds of optimization principle are proposed, including the non-homogeneous optimization principle, the cluster optimization principle and the hierarchy optimization principle.
