Research On The Color Image Of Modern Furniture

This study employed the methods of chromatology, physiology and psychology to analyze the color image of modern furniture. Based on the sense perception and cognitive data obtained by the experimental observation and questionnaire survey, the analysis of modern furniture color is systematic and comprehensive.Using eye tracker to track people's eyes movement when people observe the color of modern furniture samples, this study get the data of people's gaze direction, duration time, regression time and the other parameters to research people's physiological reaction and vision impressions of the modern furniture color. The method of semantic differential and Likert scale are the main methods for the investigation of modern furniture color image and generated the visual image scale maps. Subjects'psychological reaction of the color characteristics can be tested by the modern furniture color questionnaires. The color image assessment results were analyzed by the factor analysis, cluster analysis and Multi-Dimensional Scaling which used the data obtained from the semantic differential analysis. Finally, the study made the cognitive space of color image which combined with the modern furniture color samples and semantic attributes.In this study 1530 modern furniture were surveyed and divided into different material and various types of furniture color in the application. The modern sofas were selected as the samples of eye tracking experiment and semantic experiment. The data of subjects'vision reaction and semantic evaluation obtained by setting the differential hue and tone of modern furniture color to form the synthetical and visualized image cognitive figure. The conclusions of this study were as follows:First, the trend of modern furniture color is diversified and personalized. Wooden furniture are mainly in the color of sandal wood, such as red, orange and yellow. Non-wooden furniture has two tendency of bright and neutral color. The primary color of modern sofa is bright and vivid. Chair color was influenced by material, the selfcontainning furniture was in the color of sandal wood and the bed color was more complicated and fashion reflected in the change of frame and mattress. Second, it can be seen there are difference between modern furniture color and pure color in visual impressions by the eye tracking experiment. The difference mainly existed in the concentration area of regard, regression time, gaze direction, duration time etc,. Third, the regular distribution of modern furniture color image in the multi-dimensional evaluation scale. The global assessment of modern furniture color image was obtained by testing semantic evaluation of 43 sofa color samples on 72 subjects. Research screened out 30 pair of adjectives from 120 pair of adjectives as the semantic evaluation variable to cluster the samples by clustering methodology, factor analysis method and multi-dimensional scale, reducing the semantic variable dimensions, and integrated the samples and variable to get the visual color image cognitive space map.
