On The Adaptability Of Trans-national Oil Enterprises Under International Oil Price Fluctuation Environment

Since from 1970s, the dramatic change on oil price in recent two years have brought enormous changes on international oil markets; it was changed from the former relatively stable state into the unrest condition, which causes huge change on behavior of trans-national oil enterprises trapped thereinto. It has been the concern for theoretical circles and business circles recently that how do trans-national oil enterprises to adapt to such an unsettled market environment. In this thesis, it studies the way the trans-national oil enterprises adjust their strategy and organization structure to adapt to the market after variation through their own adaptability mechanism in the circumstance of such change on oil price. It puts forward the concept of cognition of the decision-maker on the basis of existing adaptability theory and studies how the market environment influences the adaptability of trans-national oil enterprise’s strategy and organization structure to evolve in combination with the characteristics of fluctuated international oil price. The thesis includes four parts in total.Part I includes Chapter 0 and 1; it mainly introduces the theoretical basis, studying background, tools and contents, etc. In specific, it first gives a general description on study of enterprise adaptability, international oil price fluctuation and trans-national oil enterprises both at home and abroad; and then introduces the contents of the thesis, viz. the three components of adaptability of trans-national oil enterprises under the circumstance of fluctuated international oil price:cognition of decision-maker, relationship of adaptation times between strategy and organization structure as well as influence between various factors and environment. Finally, the thesis explains some theories involved.Part II includes Chapter 2 and 3; it mainly introduces the definition of basic concept and fundamental problem relating to study of trans-national oil enterprise’s adaptability. First, it introduces the concept and components relating to trans-national oil enterprise’s adaptability in study of basic problem of trans-national oil enterprise’s adaptability; then, it analyzes the environmental factors causing the fluctuation of international oil price and the evolving rule concerning fluctuation of international oil price, and further presents the influence of the evolving rule mentioned on trans-national oil enterprise’s adaptability.Part IV includes Chapter 7 and 8. In Chapter 7, it puts forward the specific principle, indicator system and strategy of building indicator system for trans-national oil enterprise’s adaptability under the circumstance of fluctuated international oil price on the basis of the said empirical analysis. Then in Chapter 8, the thesis brings forward the deficiencies concerned and further assumption on study on the basis of summing up the basic conclusions.
